"Wow, I can't believe it's gonna be our last year of high school," Maya says.

"Yeah, the last year before we go off to college," I mumble underneath my breath.

" Don't be so grumpy, at least you don't have to be with the thot squad anymore," Maya says.

"Yeah, whatever you say...," I say. Then she looks back at me with evil smirk on her face. The one face she has been doing since kindergarten. I hate it when she does that face. One, because it makes her look constipated. Second, its her way of saying "I win the argument!" except without using words.

We sit in silence for the rest of the car ride to school, as we sit in silence and think about my father, who passed away last year during a drive by in my old neighborhood where I used to live. I Really miss my father, he was the only person who knew how to make me smile when I was down. Mom hasn't been the same since.

As the car pull to a stop, I see a bus pull up. That's when I see the cheerleaders practicing, I don't hate the crew, I just hate the leader. Cindy is the biggest bitch I've ever known. I remember in kindergarten when she stole my Twinkle Toes and said they were hers. They thought she was cool, but I really wanted to be friends with Cindy.

Anyway, Maya and I look at each other, then back to the bus, a group of boys come off. They didn't dress in regular comfortable clothes like everyone else, but in uniform. So I'm guessing, they are not from here. As the bus pulled off, I read the name of city on the bus. I noticed that instead of a city or state, it is a country. I was rather confused than relieved.

It is rather odd for someone from another country to come to the United States, just to go to school. Well, for me it is. What's really funny is that they are from Canada. Weird right?!

"Wow, hot eye candy don't you think," Maya says as I jump from being startled.

"No," I lied, "they look like a bunch of fuck boys!" Actually they're pretty hot. I wanted to stare forever, but that's when the cheerleaders came over. Every time someone new comes, the cheerleaders are the first to meet them. Especially when they are cute or just flawless.

"Hi, I'm Cindy and this is my crew," Cindy says in her sweetest cover up voice. " I will be your guide for the day," she says. After five minutes of listening to her talk, I finally got out of the car. Then I give Maya a look to let her know it is time to go inside. As I walk pass, Cindy says something I couldn't understand. The group laughs except two people. At least two people of the group notices she is being rude instead of funny. I try to convince myself that they don't speak English very well. I don't know why, but one of the boys kept looking at me. He mouthed something I couldn't understand.

Then, Maya tugged my shirt to let me know it was time to go. When we got to the door, we quickly went through the door and walked to class.
