Avery stood silently, eavesdropping at the commotion going on between her father and his doctor. Avery rolled her eyes in disgust as she continued to listen. She hated it. She hated everything, everyone. Avery didn't even understand why her father was talking to the doctor.
He was mostly healthy. Ever since Avery's mom died, her father has seemed to go a little bit mad. He would spill his emotions to anyone he could. Even the staff at the bank. It was crazy.
Avery laid down with a book, heaving a sigh. There he goes yelling again. "Avery!" He stormed in as the wooden planks of the old house creaked each step he took to his daughters room. ''How many times have I told you to clean your damn room.''
He screeched "Dad I literally just cleaned it!" "Shut up just do what your told!"
"Leave me alone! I already cleaned it!" Avery yelled back. "I don't want to hear you talking to me like this, your already on the edge of the cliff!" What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Avery thought as she forced a smile. "Yes sir" Avery scoffed sarcastically.
"How dare you talk to me that way!" Her Father growled back. He was seething inside not being able to control his feelings.
"I can talk to you however I want to." Avery said rolling her eyes. "Your grounded Avery, and forget about your supper!"
Avery clenched her fists to the point her knuckles turned red.
"We both know mother wouldn't do this to me!" She fought back.
Suddenly, a sting, a burn, a slap in the face. Avery gasped in shock and stumbled back, tears in her eyes from the slap. She had felt pain, but now only anger.
Avery slammed her bedroom door, and without a word her father, James walked away feeling guilty realizing what he had done. Maybe that was it. Maybe every feeling and dream was hopeless. The bond was officially broken.
Avery woke up in the morning with her cheek stinging slightly. She went to the bathroom to clean up only to find a little bruise on her cheek. She threw on a bland T-shirt and some jeans. Then she went to the kitchen to seek her favorite cereal, cocoa puffs.
She grabbed the box and poured the food into her bowl. She dragged her self into the dining room only to find her father. They sat across from each other, eating their breakfast Silently. They would occasionally glance at each other while chomping on their morning meals.
Then James cleared his throat to break the ice at least for a little while. The tension was building. The staring was getting more intense until... "Avery, I have decided that you will be going to a boarding school a little ways out of town." He said simply still eating.
Avery spit her cereal out and neatly choked. James looked startled. " Oh my god, what?! you can't do that to me!" she yelled. "this is how it is, and you need to be disciplined." "I'm obviously not the one to get the job done." "well your not making me go, even if you have to drag me i'll still kick away!' Well, no matter what you do, you can't stop me from changing my mind. Just stop" James replied. "
Mom would never do this to me!" "No speaking of your mother, she's gone now! You are going!" James said getting up as his voice raised. "You bastard!" Avery roared in rage. " "see, this is the unacceptable behavior that is causing all this!" Replied James. "No it's you, its all you! Battled Avery. "Who do think you are Avery White" "You know what, screw this Avery. I've had enough of your bullshit."
"Go pack you things your leaving
In four days." Said James. Four days?? That's barely enough time! Your the worst parent ever its summer I'm supposed to be in my bikini right about now. I'm 15 and I still don't even have a phone. There is not 1 drop of freedom in here.
James just sat there silently, not giving in to Avery's hateful words as she stormed off to her dwarf sized room. She smoothed her light brown hair as her Hazel eyes started to water, which would soon be soaking her rosy red vanilla cheeks. "I just need somebody" she whispered to herself in a trembling voice. Avery watched the days in fear for what might happen.
it was early Monday morning. "today would be Avery's scariest day.
"get up. "
"Get up."
At this point James shoved Avery out of her bed. "OK, I'm up." Avery replied. It was 5:00 a.m. and she was still half asleep. "what the heck dad, why do we have to get up this early. This is so extra.
First person* (Avery's pov)
I got my bags, and dragged myself the truck. It was cold and dark. We went on our way. It had been 30 minutes, but it felt like hours, and we still had a long way to go. Time passed. We stopped at a gas station. I was still in my fuzzy unicorn pajamas. I went inside to use the bathroom and the stalls smelled like smoke. Then I saw the window. I got an idea. I put my hands on the side rail and both feet on the toilet seat. All of a sudden I heard the faucet from the sink running. Someone was in the bathroom. I paused. "Hello?" I heard from the sink. "Umm.. Hi.. Im-Uh everything's fine. " I replied in a weak voice. "Are you sure?" The lady asked. "Yep" she left and I made my way up to the window. Then all of a sudden I heard a voice. It sounded sort of familiar. Oh shit. The lady behind the cash register. Ma'am is everything alright in there? A lady said it sounded like someone was climbing or something. I started climbing up to the window really fast to escape. My shirt got caught on some sort of lock, and I slipped almost getting my foot into the toilet bowl.
