A werewolf's tale

◂ Chapter 1 - The mission ▸

"I think it is them" I whispered to Kodan.

"Are you sure? They don't look the way Eyolf explained their appearance to us" he replied a little confused.

"I think they do, they have the bright green eyes, curled ears, though they don't look that muscular as she described but they got everything else."

"Eyolf told us that if they were not muscular it isn't them! Now you can go and attack the wrong people but I am not going to do so." Kodan said, a bit too loud.

"Who said that?" I saw the men pick up their weapons and I knew that we were in trouble. "Get out of your hiding spot now! Or we'll kill you when we find you!" I wanted to get up but Kodan held me back.

"Are you stupid? You cannot just pop up and be like "Hey sorry". They will slaughter you! I do not want you to die already, we will have to..." one of the men appeared in front of us. I looked at Kodan and back at the man. We were in trouble.

"I found them!" He shouted. "Just two little annoying brats, nothing we would have to worry about." He grabbed both of our arms and pulled us up. "You should have listened to the girl my friend, because now you are in trouble." His 'friends' joined the 3 of us and both of us got taken over by two other men. I looked at Kodan. I didn't want to die yet, I should have just gotten up!

"Told you we should've just gotten up, this is all your fault" I snapped at Kodan.

"All my fault!? You were the one that agreed on going here! Not me!" He growled back at me.

"Stop it you guys" said the man walking in front of us. "Neither of you should have ever come here."

I gave Kodan a mean look. "Alright then"

We got pushed onto the ground next to their campfire. "Now tell us, what were the two of you doing there."

"Erhm w- we..... Uhmm, I don't exactly know, Axickar just asked me to come with her. Not sure what we are exactly doing actually." Kodan replied.

"Well then tell us girl, what are the two of you doing here?" The man asked me in a mean way.

"Kodan you know why we are here, but for the sake of it, I will tell them. We got send on a mission by our pack, at first I wanted to come alone, but they wouldn't let me and chose Kodan to come with me. Now the reason we got send is because" I quickly had to think of a lie, but I couldn't think of anything. "We were told to find out where the base of the Crystal pack is." I wanted to slap myself so hard that moment, what if they were the Crystal pack!? What I had said was so stupid, but at least it was the truth.

"Ah, well too bad you did not find their base but ours. The good thing is that we are allies with them. Now you guys can choose, do you want to get murdered here or fulfil your mission and get murdered at their base?" I looked over at Kodan, what were we going to do? Whatever we would choose we would die. How were we going to get out of this?

"Could we maybe get a night's sleep on this?" Kodan politely asked. I looked at him weirdly, he was going to ask such a stupid thing while we were about to die!

"You wish, now what is your answer?" He man replied fiercely.

"But we have had a very long day and I think that if we could get some sleep we could make a better decision." Then I realised what Kodan was doing, gaining time. He was thinking of a plan, to escape. I started thinking of one as well.

There was a small moment of silence, then the man changed into a wolf. He growled at Kodan and showed his teeth. "I see you want to get murdered here?" He shouted down on Kodan.

"No, I'd rather fulfil our mission thinking about it." Kodan quickly replied, fearing his life.

"Stupid choice, they'll torture you, use you as a hostage. They'll use you as bait, your pack is doomed." Then I realised what we had done, if we were to survive or not, the Crystal pack was still going to declare war with our pack. We had to get out of here to warn the others, as fast as possible.

I looked over at Kodan but couldn't reach his eyes. He was lost in his thoughts, in his plan. Then I saw Kodan his eyes turn red, his plan was fighting his way out. Not really a good plan in my opinion, but I decided to join him anyway. I turned into a wolf in a fraction of a second and bit one of the men in his leg. I ripped of pieces of flesh and turned around to see Kodan fighting four other werewolves and two running towards me. I quickly jumped over Kodan and bit one of the werewolves in his neck. As soon as I saw his eyes go black I felt claws penetrating my back. I turned around and was able to get the werewolf off of me. I hit his face with my paw and made a few deep scratches. Kodan jumped on his back and continued the fight with that werewolf for me. I attacked another werewolf, aiming for his neck but missing. He bit me in my stomach but I luckily was able to get him off of me, I managed to bite him in his neck this time and while trying to kill him three other werewolves attacked me. I turned around, rolled over the ground to create some distance and got up again. I ran towards them, jumped over one of the werewolves whilst grabbing it by its neck and slung it through the air, hitting two other werewolves. The other two werewolves attacked me at the same time and hit me back to the ground, they got me in a headlock. I was not able to move, but had to get out. I defended myself using my mouth and was able to bite one of the werewolves in its snout. I pulled it to the right and was able to get the werewolf off of me. I got my legs free and was able to push the other werewolf off of me as well. I quickly attacked the one that I bit in the snout and killed it. The other werewolf bit me in my leg, I groaned and collapsed to the floor. I looked over to Kodan and to my luck I saw that he had just killed the last werewolf he was fighting. He came running towards me and bit the very last werewolf in his neck.

"Are you okay?" Kodan asked me.

I looked down at my leg, it was not a big wound, I did not understand why it hurt so much, but it did not matter either. "Yeh, I am fine, but we have to run, now!"
