Sintac walked through the corridors of the Forbidden Archives. He was doing his routine check to make sure everything was still there and not tampered with. Grudgingly, Sintac checked things off his list on the clipboard he carried; red beings' claws, check, key to Apocalypse's chains, check, shards of Ransiil, check, Ulrak's amulet, check.
As he passed the door to Middengard, locked up tight, Sintac paused. Secretly he wished to enter, but he knew that it would end in disaster, and on top of that, it was illegal, and he was the one who was meant to enforce the Multiversal laws. He kept walking, and taking inventory.
Now, Sintac stood in front of the highest security containment compartment of all the Forbidden Archives. A gate forged with dwarven iron, unbreakable, and only to be opened by a few: Sintac and the Council members. Behind the gate was a cube made from black steel, with a length of ten feet. The only opening on the cube was about the right size to stick in your arm, and was opened by a scan of the fingerprint.
So Sintac unlocked the gate and opened the cube. He looked inside. Suspended in the center of the cube there was a small black chest, like a jewelry box. It was still there, just as Sintac knew it would be.
As Sintac checked the box off his list, he heard a voice, "Oh Sintac the Enforcer, so strong and noble, why dost thou keep me locked inside this cold prison?"
Dropping his checklist, Sintac drew his sword. He could not tell where the voice had come from.
"Oh you silly man, there is no reason for violence," the voice called.
Where are you? Show yourself!" Sintac demanded.
Laughing, the voice said, I'm right here, inside the cube."
Sintac's eyes widened, and he looked back inside the cube to see the box glowing with a white light.
"Come now, Sintac, just hold out your hand."
Finding himself overcome with wonder and greed, Sintac sheathed his blade and reached into the cube. he pulled out his arm, now holding the box.
Clearer now, the voice was that of a woman, "Now, my love, open the box. Set me free!"
Sintac opened the box, channeling his magical prowess into it. A pain fired through his whole being, but he could not stop giving the box his power once he started. He screamed. When all his power was gone, Sintac collapsed, dropping the box onto the floor.
The box shot open, and an aura left it, and entered Sintac's body. Now the box laid empty, smoking. Sintac stood up. Placing the empty box back into its prison, he said, "I'm baaack! Pandora has returned! Watch out Multiverse, here I come!"
