The bell rings on a Friday afternoon to conclude yet another week at school. As every student pushes and shoves their way out the doors to be free for the weekend, there are always two girls who stay after school to research about the mer-world in the library. Those two girls are Lucy Smith and Lauren Mallen.  Having almost nothing in common, its hard to believe they get along. Lucy is more of the athletic type, while Lauren spends almost every day drawing. Little did the two girls know, but today was not going to be a normal ordinary Friday. Today would change their lives for the for-seeable future.

" Man would it be cool to be super natural." Said Lucy, pulling out the chair from the table. Lucy coughed to try to get Lauren's attention, but she still didn't look up from her sketchpad.

I said " Man would it be cool to be super natural." Said Lucy, who was getting annoyed.

" Can you define what you mean by Super Natural?" Lauren finally responded. Lucy thought for a minute, then replied " I don't know, just it would be cool to be special I guess." As the time passed, the girls filled their imaginations with ideas of fantasy creatures. They read books about eagles with deer horns and books about flying pigs. The girls are often teased for this, but they've learned to ignore it.

" Well, I'm gonna head out girls." Said Mrs. Shores, the librarian.

" Ok." Lucy replied. The two girls glanced at eachother, then both got up and walked out the library, left the school, and told each other, " I'll see you later!" The two girls winked at each other, then both went their own ways.

Later that night, Lauren got a text from Lucy saying " Wanna go swimming tonight at sundown at the lake by my house?"

" Sure " Lauren replied. As the clock on Lauren's night stand hit 7:30, she ran down the stairs with her swimsuit, iPhone, beach towel, and the most comfortable shoes in the world. Flip flops.

" Bye mom!" Lauren yelled as she closed her front door and walked over to Lucy's house. Little did Lauren or her parents know but that was the last time they would see each other. Ever.
