10 Years Later

"Nin! There's a monster at the Bunks! We gotta go!" Punch ran into the training room with sweat pouring off his face. "What class?" I asked as I hurriedly pushed my boots on and ran out the door with him. "We don't know- It's a new class." Punch gasped as we ran. "Another one?! That's the 3rd one this firelight!" I ran faster, unknown class-monsters are dangerous since we don't know what they can do, and how to prepare. We ran by the armory to grab shields and swords, then ran to the far side of the living area. As we neared the bunks I started to here screaming and roaring. I ran faster.  As I darted into the room, several things happened at the same time. First I saw Kick knocked down by the monsters attack, then I saw the monster.

It was green with a big blob as a body and several neck-things coming out of the to of it with little eyes at the ends. They were swinging wildly, knocking people and things to the ground left and right. Its huge mouth with dozens of teeth was on its belly area, and as weird as this may sound to people who have grown up in the over world, I was somewhat used to things like these, though it was still new. I didn't have time to gape thought, because as Punch and I ran into the room and Kick hit the ground, the monster almost instantly focused its eye-head things (their were about 10 of them) on me, as I was the first to walk in. "Nin watch out!" Kick shouted from the ground. A big green object came at me, and thanks to my quick reflexes, I cut it off with one hit of my sword. It was a big tail, one of many, that I hadn't even seen. It bared resemblance to the neck-heads, except for it was thicker, and instead of an eye at the end, there was a nose. A huge, ugly, snot-covered nose.

Before I could even catch my breath, the other few tails came at me all at once, I had angered the monster, quite literally. Punch jumped in front of me and sliced two of the tails off the blob with his sword in two slashes. Not liking to feel as though I'm being smothered or underestimated, I pushed my way beside him and helped to take off the 3 remaining tails.

  "This monster- it looks like a mix between a puddy/slime or squid. Like a hybrid?" I thought aloud. "We don't know, but- Nin!" Kick attempted to warn me, but my mind had wandered, it was useless.

A black ball of gas flew at me. I ducked behind my shield, right as Punch reached to get me out of the way. "NIN!" Kick screamed. "YOUR ARM!" I looked down at the one arm that hadn't been blocked by my shield- or, er- what was left of it; a black, burnt stump. My eyes widened but even at this moment I didn't have time to dilly dally, after all, letting my mind wander had already cost me my arm.

The monster started to shoot the gas balls left and right, blowing up the room and, frankly, making it stink.

"NIN GET EVERYONE ELSE OUTTA HERE-" Kick began as he got up to fight. Ignoring him, I turned to the small crowd left in the bunker. "Quick! Get out of here, and get Fist and the others to help!" They all nodded, their eyes wide with fear, and ran out.

"That's not exactly what I meant-" Kick muttered as he jumped beside me to fight.

Although he used an old sword to fight this new monster, his signature move is his kick, usually with a weapon attached to his foot, just as Punch's is his packed punches and Fist's her powerful, gloved slaps- although Fist sounded cooler then 'Slap' at the time of her naming.

I turned back to the monster whose back was to me. Without thinking, I sent my sword through its back and out its mouth the other side. Once the monster stopped moving I took out my sword. After all, attacking when least expected was my strong point.

But this time it didn't work.

Enraged, the monster turned to me with a big gash in the bag of its mouth. "WHAT? IT WAS DEAD- FIST, LOOK OUT!" Fist ran in from the entrance behind me, gaining the now angry monster's attention, and becoming its next target.

Fist didn't miss a beat, she jumped behind the barricade that had been built at the far end of the room and motioned for everyone behind her to do the same.
Once we distracted the monster long enough for the others to catch their breath, they jumped out from behind the barricade and joined us in battle.

"HAVEN'T YOU GUYS TRIED JUST STABBING THROUGH HIS HEART YET?" Fist asked as she made another slash at it. "I DID- BUT IT JUST HEALED ITSELF- I THINK WE NEED TO GET THE NECK THINGS OFF BEFORE WE ATTEMPT TO GET IT THROUGH ITS HEART, WHICH IS TRICKY WITH THE GAS BALLS." I replied, reflecting a ball with my sword back to the monster, but it had no affect.

"NOVA, CAT, NIN! YOU GET THE REMAINING EYE-THINGS WHILE THE REST OF US KEEP THE GAS BALLS OUT OF YOUR HAIR!" I nodded and ran to where Nova and Cat were slashing at the beast. Ever since we angered it and awoke its gas attack, then angered it again and put some fight back into it, cutting off the head things had become difficult.

Kick distracted the monster with his kicks long enough for Nova, Cat and I to each get a head off. The monster was losing its fight. Fist looked at me to give me more orderswhen she noticed my arm, or lack there of, which hadn't exactly been the biggest worry with a giant, gas-breathing monster with 10 tentacles swinging at all of us in the room. "NIN! HOW ARE YOU FIGHT? YOU HAVE TO SIT OUT-" Fist began, but Punch budded in. "WE ALREADY TRIED TO GET HER TO SIT OUT, BUT YOU KNOW HER, SHE WON'T LEAVE A FIGHT. SHE'S BEEN DOING WELL THOUGH- WE ALMOST HAVE HIM DOWN. WE'LL FOCUS ON THAT WHEN THIS IS OVER." Reluctantly, Fist nodded and carried on with her commands. "OKAY, FINE. BUT NIN I WANT YOU TO RUN TO ME, I'LL CIRCLE YOU TO DISTRACT THE MONSTER THEN YOU DART BEHIND IT. THEN I'LL DISTRACT IT AGAIN SO KICK CAN JOIN YOU AND IF YOU GUYS TO YOUR DUAL MOVE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE THE 7 REMAINING- THINGS DOWN PRETTY EASILY."

I nodded and did just as she told me, being sure to slowly sink down to the ground as Fist ran around me and the others deflected the gas balls. "NOW!" Fist ran away from me, taking the monster's attention with her, and I ran behind the monster, where Kick was waiting for me.

"Ready?" I nodded."OY UGLY, LOOK 'OER HERE!" Kick shouted, landing one in its green, slimey body. The monster turned to us just as I ran up and, with the help of Kick, jumped onto the monster, destroying two of the eye-things as I flew in the air, and two more before he bucked me off his back (It's quite hard to hold onto a wild, slimey, slippery monster with one arm, /and/ cut off swinging tentacle/neck things).

Landing on my feet, I called out to Kick to be ready, but he was one step ahead of me. With a swing of his leg, the pokey ball-and-chain that he attached to his foot while I had fought the monster, went flying toward the monster's forehead. "CRAP NO I MISSED!" Kick screamed, as he had been aiming for the eye-things, but before we could evaluate how much he messed up ad what to do next, the monster fell to the ground.

We dropped our weapons and walked up to him, then looked up to Nova, who usually knew a lot about the creatures we fought, new or not. "He's not dead- but unconscious. This should be easier to kill him though, when he can't fight." We nodded. "Ok, but- what happened? I missed it!" Kick asked, quite obviously confused that his mess-up worked out for the better. Nova nodded, "Yes, but I think where you did hit was some sort of pressure point that knocked him out. This is good though, not only is it easier to kill him like this but now we know this class's weakness." Punch sighed. "Too bad we didn't know that earlier." They all looked at me, and my one and a half arms. "Nin why don't you go the hospital. I realize you should be ok if you can fight, but you should still get Mere to check up on you. Don't worry we'll take care of this guy." Nova suggested in her small, sweet voice. I nodded, it wasn't worth fighting it, she was right.

"WOAH DUDE YOUR ARM IS GONE." Cat screamed in realization. We all laughed. "Yes Cat, we've been over this- now you guys take down that guy before he wakes up, I'll walk Nin down to Mere and make sure everyone else is ok." Niko, who hadn't spoken until now, remarked. They all nodded and Niko put his arm behind me as we walked out of the room.
