Tori's POV

"TORI!" I hear my mom shout.

"Yes Mom?" I answer her.

"Come down and do your homework. I am not letting you get another bad grade because of your laziness." I groan as I get up from my bed and make my way downstairs. I walk into the kitchen where my mom is making dinner.

"But mom..."

"No buts Tori, you have to do your homework," she says. "You are failing most of your classes and that is not acceptable." I groan again.

"Dinner smells great!" I say to try and take her mind of me and my homework.

"Yeah... thanks honey, but that's not gonna work on me. Now go do your homework."

"Ugh but I don't want to!" I keep moaning but make my way to my bag to take my math worksheet out. "Geometry. Who the hell is even going to need geometry? I mean does anyone really care about this crap?"

"Quit moaning Tori, just do it and get it out of the way."

"Fine!" I go to the refrigerator and take out a bottle of water then I take my homework and sit down at the dinner table.  I just look at the worksheet and wonder what in the world i'm meant to do.

"Oh and honey remember we're having that big dinner party on Saturday night."

"Yeah yeah yeah. Who's coming again?" I ask tilting my head around looking at my worksheet trying to make sense of the stupid homework. I take a sip of my water.

"Grandma and Grandpa, The Holcker family, Barry and Sharon, and..." she hesitates. "Oh! Exciting news!! Ava is coming!!" I nearly choke on the water when she says those words and I start coughing uncontrollably.

"WHAT!?!?" I scream. I take another sip of my water to calm myself down.

"Yes! Ava's parents are sending her here for the weekend. Oh and!! SHE'S BRINGING HER NEW BOYFRIEND!!!" I spit the water in my mouth right into my moms face.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!??!?" I yell "MOM I FRICKING HATE AVA AND NOW SHE'S BRINGING HER NEW BOYFRIEND?!? WHY THE HELL DID YOU AGREE TO THIS!?!?"

"Oh come on now Tori. You and Ava get along great!" She says wiping the water off her face.

"THAT'S WHAT YOU THINK!" I'm still shouting. "You know, I can't believe you did this without asking." I lower my voice a little bit.

"What? I have to ask my daughters permission to have my niece around for dinner?"

"Yes! Yes you do when it's her!" I try very hard to keep my cool.

Ava has been jealous of me ever since we were little. We're both the same age (14) but she thinks she has this kind of power over me. Everything has to be her way or highway. If I had the latest Barbie doll when I was little, she had to design her own and had to have it made for her. She always had to be on top and I can't stand that.

"Excuse me but I am the adult here and I make the decisions for the family so you need to stop telling me what I should and should not do. I am sick of this attitude young lady. Go up to your room and finish the rest of your work." I hang my head a little ashamed and walk up to my room. I need to find a boyfriend, I think to myself. And I need to find one fast.
