"Wake up Cinders."

A soft voice cooed in Cinders's ears and she opened her eyes, gazing at her mother. "Good morning mother!"

Cinders's mother beamed down. "Are you ready?"

Cinders felt a bit of nervousness. She would be going to her new housefolk today. Her brother, Duke had left the day before. "I guess."

"Don't be sad." Her mother said, licking her daughter. "Maybe we will see each other again. And you will be well taken of."

"I know. But I will still miss you." Cinders looked at her paws. She had always known this would happen. She just never imagined it would happen so fast.

The doorbell rang, making Cinders jump.

"Here they are." Her mother said. "Be sure to play and look cute!"

Cinders snorted but jumped out of the basket and streatched, fuffling up her silvery gray fur to look fluffy. As the new housefolk walked aroung the corner, Cinders let out a cute little meow and jumped on the plush mouse, batting it around with soft paws.

Cinders jumped as she heard the housefolk kit squeal, then felt tiny hands grip her around the ribs tightly. She mewled and struggled to breath as the kit squashed her to her chest and squeezed. I have a feeling she has never had a kitten before! Cinders said to herself.

The kit turned toward her parents, squealing and hurting Cinders's ears. Then they began to walk to the door.

Cinders turned to look at her home one last time. She saw her mother on the couch, watching with sadness.

"Good bye Momma." Cinders wimpered as the door closed.

It was a rough ride to Cinders's new home. The monster was hot and cramped, and the movement made her feel sick. And the little housefolk kit was squeezing her to death, which wasent helping.

After what seemed like years, the monster finally stopped, and the kit jumped out, still squeezing Cinders's. But Cinders's seemed to forget everything as she looked at her new home.

It was a large brick home with neat yards and hedges. Once inside, Cinders's was put onto the cool, hardwood floor. Cinder's walked around, exploring every nook and cranny, finding her food and water dishes and her dirtbox.

Afterwords, Cinder's went to the back door, and pushed through the catflap. The backyard was large and surrounded by a tall wooden fence. A couple of small trees stood in the back, and even some hedges.

Cinders padded off the patio, and began to explore. She looked under every hedge, and even climbed the trees. Soon, she climbed the back fence to see next door and froze. There was no more gardens, just trees, as far as she could see.

She jumped when she heard somthing scratching beside her. She turned to see a tortishell she-cat with a pink collar and friendly golden eyes scrabbling up the fence.

"Hi!" The tortishell mewed.

"Hello." Cinders said, dipping her head to the cat.

"Are you one of them clan cats?" She asked, tipping her head to one side. "You act like one."

"Clan cat?" Cinders asked.

"It's a group of wildcats that live in the forest. They are always fighting, and I heard they eat bones!" The tortishell said, eyes wide.

Cinders shivered slightly. "No. I don't eat bones."

"Oh, ok. I'm Annabell by the way. I live in the house next to you!" Annabell said.

"I'm Cinders. I just got her." Cinders said, leaping down into her garden.

Annabell lept down after her. "Oh, you live with that little housefolk cub?" For some reason, her eyes sparked with fear.

"Yeah..." Cinders said.

"She is crazy!" Annabell said. "She used to have a puppy, but I heard that she squeezed it to death! All animals fear her!"

Cinders's fur bristled. "Is that true?!" She wimpered.

Annabell shrugged. "That's what I heard. I would be careful if I were you."

Then the door behind them creaked, and the housefolk cub darted out toward Cinders.

Cinders looked behind her and noticed Annabell had retreated to the hedge, looking at her new friend with fear in her eyes.

Rough hands grabbed Cinders, and the kit jerked her up, upside down.

Cinders wailed as the kit swung her around, squeezing all of the air out of her. But it seemed no one heard her.

Was Cinders destined to live with this abusive housefolk cub?
