Pink can be many different shades
The wisps of a cloud during a sunset
A fresh stick of sugary bubble gum
The color of a newly opened cherry chap stick
A bright fiery color that is almost a red
Or a soft gentle color that is barley above fading into an orange
The pink on a peach right in between where the crimson and dreamsicle colors meet
The shade of my Grandmas lipstick that always adds a clashing pop of color
But pink cannot go with anything
It is very beautiful, but it only brings few colors to life
Black, on the other hand, is solid
Black is like a turtle
Covered in a hard shell
But full of life on the inside
Black is underestimated
There are many things that could be called black
The night sky clashing with chips of diamonds that some call stars
But, no
That is more of a deep mysterious purple
The faded words of a dusty old book
But wouldn't that be more of a very dark navy?
A smooth stone that is perfect for skipping
No, that is more of a cool deep grey
So what is black?
Are there different shades of the colors that swirl and mix?
Or is there only one solid shade?
It is a mystery to me
Most don't notice though
That black can go with everything
The bright red of a glossy fingernail
The gentle orange of a small purse
The daffodil yellow that is sprinkled across a white sun dress
The velvet green that runs across the hem of a Christmas dinner skirt
The soft faded blue of a pair of glasses
Or the midnight purple of an evening gown
And of course the crisp white of a pressed blouse
A good teacher should be the swirling color of black
Any student
Of any kind
One that loves art
Or perhaps math
One that has interests in sports
Or maybe in writing songs
Are full of different shades of different colors
It is very rare
To find a teacher who could go with any color
Teach any student
From anywhere
So when you do
Find the teacher that is the beautiful mysterious color of black
Consider yourself lucky
It is hard to find that perfect shade that goes with everything
