"Wake up,child" A teenage dragon said to his younger sister, poking her. "Hey...it's your first day of school here. We aren't in Majdom anymore. You have to get up." He ripped off her blanket and inched closer,"I'll tell ma and pa that you're sleeping in.In fact, I'll go tell them now..."
The dragoness flailed her arms around, eyes shut tight, trying to hit her annoying brother,"Randi, I'm awaaaake..." She mumbled into her pillow. She slowly opened her eyes and growled at Randi. He got the message; she could tell by the slightly disappointed look on his face.
"Just get ready, Platinum. Don't give me any attitude," Randi said in a slightly dismissive tone.
Platinum...she really didn't like that name. Why not diamond or ruby? Creatures actually know that those minerals are precious, but platinum? Nobody gives a damn about that mineral, it might as well be copper. Her parents never gave her a reason for that name, they always told her to give it a meaning. What it meant to her.
Platinum sighed at her mental quarreling and carelessly put her glasses on her snout and brushed her black hair in a small mirror. Blindness cured, bed head conquered, much better. She could now see that her brother was snooping around in her room. Even through her diary. He was going to get a punch later... Now, her uniform. It was much different from the uniforms that students from her old country would wear. It was much simpler, not that that was a bad thing, but Wisp Blessings uniforms were downright bland.Nothing really jumped out at her: Light blue button-up with a white dress shirt underneath, and black pants with the ugly school logo on it. The logo seemed to glow strangely... Platinum just assumed that it was a marketing gimmick to make the uniforms more expensive. There was also a skirt that could be worn on special occasions. Platinum wouldn't be caught dead in a skirt, especially in that ugly, cheaply made, black skirt. It was easier to just put on comfy pants and be done with it.
The young dragoness threw on her uniform, grabbed her pre-packed bag and headed to the door.
"See ya," she yelled to her parents and younger brother, who were quietly eating their breakfast.
Her father was in his warm PJs sipping on his coffee as he typed on his laptop. The glow of the laptop reflected off of his light gray scales and brown eyes. His youngest son's stirring didn't seem to bother him one bit. Strange, he would usually lose his voice telling him to calm down. Platinum definitely took after her father.
Platinum's younger brother was full of energy even though it was 7:30 in the morning. Well, he wasn't as full of energy. Usually, he'd be bouncing off the walls, but right now he was playing around with his airplane, making it dive at his cereal bowl.
Her mother was a fortune teller, so she was cleaning her crystal ball while she munched on a piece of bread. The royal blue dragoness carefully wiped every spec off the ball before placing it on a brown stand. Her smile reflected off of it.
Aloud crash was heard, indicating that Randi was nearby. Platinum had enough of her brother for one day.
"Get your butt over here!" Platinum yelled, nearly stuttering. She couldn't swear in front of her little brother, she didn't him to have a filthy mouth like her.
Randi half-slid, half-ran to the door, knocking over a bunch of dishes. He was ready for school, however, backpack, uniform and all. His navy scales and curled horns were nicely shined. The teen dragon stood taller than his sister and was lean, but strong; he could certainly take down another dragon the same height as him and probably has done so before. His snout was about the same length as his sister's and had a stupid grin on it.
"Let's head on over!" Randi triumphantly said, scooping up his sister before flying off.
"Hey!"The captured dragon yelped in shock.
As they were flying, Platinum noticed a few strange wisps in the air that seemed to disappear or fly off as they drew closer. The wisps that hit the school logo on their pants disintegrated on contact. It was a bit concerning for Platinum, but Randi soared right by them as if there was nothing there. And he was the observant type! On the ground below, there were citizens, young and old, swatting at the strange clouds with necklaces adorn with multi coloured jewels. Some of them shone in a similar way to how the logo on their pants were. They seemed as unfazed as Randi, moving their necklaces as if they were sweeping dust or swatting flies. Extremely young creatures were encouraged to stay away from the clouds, however, and earned a slap on the wrist if they dared to play with them. Perhaps it was just a strange type of overcast? It wasn't that uncommon for the normally white fog to change colors back in Majdom. But this fog... It seemed to have a mind of its own...
Platinum'strain of thought was derailed when Randi dropped her with a "plop".They were at school. Considering what they just saw, she didn't know whether to be happy or upset. Her parents had a lot of explaining to do. Randi, who just rudely dropped her, sped walked to the building. No goodbye or anything. Platinum didn't really care, though. It was too late for that dragon to kiss up to her after all the hell he put her through this morning.
Even though Wisp Blessings school was located in a very drab area, there sure was a lot of activity there. Her ma wasn't lying when she said that there were about 1000 students attending the school. Students of all kinds walked, ran, skipped, or downright flew into the school. Not too many students stayed outside, strangely. At Platinum's old school, creatures loved to loiter around the front of the school and block the doors with their stupidly large groups of friends. Stupidly large as in groups of 20+ students. Platinum noticed a decorated rope above the door, awfully similar to the ones that the townsfolk were using to ward off the clouds. The charms, once again, were similar to the logo imprinted on her pants. Was it to protect the school? That could be why everyone, including her brother, weren't taking time to hang around school grounds. Platinum followed the pack of students and walked inside to "safety".
