"Are you seriously not coming Serena?" Amber whined standing in the door frame.
"Yes, Amber, I'm sure I'm not going to some stupid carnival three weeks before finals," I replied, keeping my focus on the papers in front of me.
"Exactly! There's three weeks until we leave! What've you got to lose?" She whined again tugging at my shirt.
"If I go, you have to agree to not ask me to do anything again before finals," I look her straight in the eye.
"I promise lets go!" Amber shouts grabbing my arm dragging me out of the room. After she practically buckled me into the car, she sped off to the carnival.
"Amber! You are running almost every red light!" I shout holding on for my life.
"Oops," she slows down laughing a bit.
"You found that funny!" I look at her.
"You only live once, right?" She looks at me.
"The road Amber! Focus on the road!" I panic.
"Geez, Serena! Don't be so uptight!" She looks back at the road. I relax. I guess she was right. The road had no other cars on it so we couldn't crash. I laugh.
"I guess I was being a bit uptight," She smiles and drives to the carnival.
We arrive at the carnival. Amber squeals as we walk in. "Don't you just love the carnival!"
"Sure," I roll my eyes and look around.
"Come ride a rollercoaster!" Amber shouts pointing at the rollercoaster. She could be such a child sometimes.
"Rollercoasters really aren't my thing," A slight frown creeps upon my face. She groans but doesn't do anything about it. She just runs towards the direction of the rollercoaster.
I walk towards a concession stand. "Yes!" I shout a bit too loud causing people to stare. I hide my face with my hands. I get in the line and hear a few snickers.
I had shouted because they had nachos. That is one of my absolute favorite concession foods. Ever since I was little. Before my dad had died he would always take me to the baseball games and get me nachos. Ever since he passed, I get nachos any chance I can. I know it sounds stupid, but it reminds me of the connection we had.
I approached the stand and a lady smiled at me with soft blue eyes. They looked a lot like mine. "How can I help you?" she said softly.
"I'd like some nachos," I smiled back at her, "With extra cheese," I finished. She nodded and scurried away to make the food. I looked around and realized how much of an outcast I was. Everyone else seemed to be wearing bright and bouncy colors, while I was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts. I wasn't a big fan of standing out, but I also wasn't a fan of the bright bouncy colors either. The lady hurried back up "Here are your nachos, ma'am," she said, almost sounding worried. I nodded as I took them.
I walked away from the stand. I was just about to sit at a table when I heard a voice shouting, "Hey! You dropped your phone!" I reached in my back pocket and it turns out I did. Before setting the nachos down I turned around. Little did I know he would be standing right there. He bumped into me making the nachos fly in the air, and the cheese on top of me.
He stared at me. I just about had a rampage on the spot. "Are you kidding me! Do you ever watch where you're going?" I shouted at him. His eyes were filled with a scared look.
"I am so sorry," he said grabbing napkins and trying to clean off my shirt, "I swear it was an accident." I bite my lip and curse for how rude I was to him when it was clearly an accident.
I put a hand on my head, "I'm sorry, I've just been holding in a lot lately and it sorta just went out on you."
"It's alright," he assures me, "That shirt isn't going to get much better... let me buy you a new one!"
I shake my head, "That's really not necessary." A frown forms on his plump lips. He was really cute. He had brown hair that looked absolutely amazing. It fit his green eyes perfectly. His face was round. As I had been admiring his face, he had grabbed my hand and dragged me to a store.
"I insist you let me buy you a new shirt since I ruined your's," He crosses his arms. I was about to say no when he looked at me with puppy dog eyes. I look at him and relentlessly give in, "Alright." A bright smile spreads across his face. He picks out a light purple shirt, "What do you think?" He asks holding it up to me. I nod to show him I like it and he runs to the cash register and pays for it. He walks back and hands it to me. I smile and take it mouthing a quick 'Thank you' before walking to the bathroom.
I put the shirt on and look in the mirror. My straight-as-a-board blonde hair frames my face perfectly. My eyes are an ice blue and my lips are a bright pink. I sigh. I walk out and see that he waited for me. A small smile creeps upon my face. I shame myself for being happy but give in, again. "You didn't have to stay," I say as I walk up to him. I put my hands down my my side.
He interlocks his fingers with mine and says, "But then we couldn't ride the Ferris wheel together," he smiles and begin to walk towards the Ferris wheel.
"You don't even know my name," I frown. And I didn't even know his.
"Well I'm Samuel, and you are?" He raises an eyebrow.
"Serena," I reply.
"Alright, now I know your name, let's go!" He acts like a kid and begins dragging me. I dig my heels trying to stop him. "What are you doing?" he frowns.
"I don't want to go," I bite my lip. He frowns and then his face lights up. He picks me up and begins walking to the Ferris wheel again. I blush. His hands felt cold to my skin. Why was this guy so perfect?
