The leaves rustled under their sprinting boots, filling the wood with the sounds of panic and terror. Five in all, four human, one beast. Its roars followed them, driving them further into the madness that follows fear.

One of the runners, a boy, glanced back at the monster chasing them. He stopped in his tracks as the demonic red eyes glowed closer, the rest of its body hidden by the darkness. The boy stumbled to the forest floor, paralyzed.

"We can't just leave him!" Another of the four screamed. Someone grabbed her arm and tugged her along.

"He's dead, let it go! We have to get out of here!"

Their screams were lost in the leaves, replaced with a raging roar.
