On the outside, it looked like an ordinary house, but as I was about to find out, the inside was a lot different. I wasn't at all phased by the rumours, because that's all they were, rumours. I knew it was fake, and if it wasn't for my little sister, I wouldn't have even bothered going in there.
I reluctantly walked through the annoyingly squeaky gate of the house. I knew it was meant for children a lot younger than me, when I had to go on my knees just to get through the narrow front door.
All of my friends were having a blast on The Redback, and the countless other activities that I would be missing out on. I was starting to wonder whether this babysitting crap was worth missing out on a great time with my friends. My thoughts were interrupted when a deep gruff voice came over the loudspeaker.
"Walk nearer if you dare."
I was disgusted with how lame this whole thing was. I was seriously pondering whether or not to just run off and leave Alyssa there. When I heard the sound of cackling, followed by a shrill scream, I knew something was wrong. My heart was pounding in my chest and my hands started to shake. Instinctively, I started running through the dark narrow halls, looking for Alyssa. I wouldn't get paid if Alyssa came home dead. After a moment longer of waiting, I continued down the dark hall. But as I came closer, a dark figure came into view.
Two dark, shadows pounced on me and wrapped a long rope around my throat. I let out a scream, but no sound came out. They dragged me to a dimly lit room where I saw my beautiful sister staring back at me. I gave Alyssa a disgusted look and gestured to the spot next to me.
The man's yellow teeth flashed in the dull light as he growled, "Choose one: your death or hers."
I suddenly realised what was going on, this was a hostage situation, and I had to make the right decision. As much as I loved Alyssa, she was an annoying brat that always stole my stuff and copied my every move. Once, I even died my hair a deep shade of blue, and Alyssa still copied me. But after a moment of reflecting, I realised that Alyssa was too young to die, that she deserved a life.
"Think you got me sorted out, don't ya? Bet you think I'm gonna make a stupid decision based on impulse. Well, sorry but that's just not the way I roll"
I smirked at them both and with a swing of my hand, I had sent 'Evil 1' and 'Evil 2' cascading down the hall, into a pile.
With the evils temporary down, I took my chance. I ran to Alyssa, gave her a hug and untied the ropes, setting her free.
"Adrienne!!" she squealed in delight "you saved my life! Thankyou"
I sometimes wish I didn't save her that day, she is so frustratingly annoying. But I know, deep down that I need my sister. I can't imagine life without her, and that is why I saved her life.
