Chapter 1 Nightmares

    Caroline woke up screaming, this has been happening lately to Caroline. Every night she would wake up screaming from her nightmares. Caroline's parents came in running , " I'm fine guys" Caroline assured them.
     "You keep on saying that sweetie, but this has been happening more often. We are getting worried." Mrs. Shepard said with consern. Caroline just shook her head and waved her hand " really guys I'm fine"
      When Mr and Mrs. Shepard left Caroline got out of bed and went to brush her teeth. "I'm fine, I am completely fine" Caroline repeated to her self.
    She got onto the bus, and as she sat she felt like the time was being fast forward. Then she heard the PSHHH!! Of the bus door and she snapped out of her day dream. She then heard a voice behind her, " CAROL I'VE BEEN LOOKING ALL OVER FOR YOU!" It was her best friend Jacobi.
" What do you mean I just got here?"
" Uhm school started like 20 minutes ago.."
     "WHAT?" Caroline rushed to first period, and there everyone was. Everybody just started at her. Caroline's head throbbed .. I probaly didn't get enough sleep last night.. She walked to her desk and sat down, she put her hands over her face so everyone would stop starring.
   She finally made it to lunch time and she sat by Jacobi like always. "So how was class?" She asked while smirking
   "ITS NOT FUNNY YOU ASSHOLE!" Caroline screamed!
  "Let me guess you didn't get enough sleep again?"
"Yes the stupid nightmares have gotten worse, what do I do?" Caroline's face saddened.
      "Well once my cousin tried lucid dreaming , he said it helped him with his nightmares.." Jacobi explained
     Caroline stared suspiciously at her friend who was just squinting " I think you might need glasses."
   "NO I DON'T!"
       "As you say!" Caroline said about to burst out in laughter.
     Somehow the rest of the day just seemed foggy cause once she got home she couldn't remember a thing. She then heard a RINNNGGG!!! She picked up her phone and answered the call, " Hey carol so me and Joshua and some more people are going to the movie theaters... Wanna come?" Jacobi asked with some noise in the background.
       "Sure but next time text me cause I hate the sound of my phone ringing!"
    " I know that's why I called"
    "I hate you." Caroline then hung up on the phone. She put on a shirt some leggings and her favorite converse. She headed out the door when she realized. She hasn't seen her parents since that morning. She took out her phone and called her parents. "Where in the world are you guys?"
    "Sweetie listen carefully, take the keys and go somewhere. Don't come home until we call you back. Ok?"
    "Ok?! I guess I'll just go to the theater with Jacobi and some friends." Before Caroline could say another word the phone hung up. Fear and worry filled her body. She took her long board and went towards the movie theater, thousands of thoughts went through her head, "Are her parents hurt?"  She shook away that idea. "Look who showed up!" Joshua said with a smirk on his face as he put his hand over her.
    "Take your dirty hands off me!" She said as she glared at him.
    "Ok ok, take it easy! I don't want any trouble." Joshua put his hands up in defense
    Caroline laughed. They entered the theater and paid for the movie and found the right room. After a moment of silence Joshua finally said, "Caroline can you please get some popcorn, here's twenty bucks."
"Josh sweetie, this is a movie theater you will need more than twenty bucks!" Caroline said with a smirk on her face. Joshua finally laughed and gave her another twenty.
       Caroline returned with a big popcorn and a root beer. " I gave you money for only popcorn Carol." Joshua whispered kind of starting to get angry
      "Well I had extra.." Josh just stared at her "Fine you can have some too"
     Josh smiled and took out his hands "come on girl give your man a hug." Caroline wrinkled her noise "Eww no!"
      Joshua stuck out his lip and started to fake cry. Caroline sighed stood up and gave him a hug. When she started to get back up Joshua just took her on his lap. "Let go josh!" Caroline said about to scream
     "Do you want me to let go or are you saying that cause we are here with friends and people are here?"
   "I say it cause..cause.. UGH, do you always have to do this?" She started to fight but then she looked at his face, his dark shaggy hair and bright eyes. Her face relaxed. "Yes.. Every time" he said as a smile spread on his face.
  She just put her head on his chest and relaxed. The movie was great but the best was that she got to spend it with her friends. RINGG!! Caroline quickly left the room and answered "Hey honey you can come home soon if you want to your brother is gonna be home from work soon!"
"MOM  SOMETHING HAPPENED AND YOU'RE JUST ACTING LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED, I was worried all day!" She tried to push back the tears
"I know sweetie, I'll tell you when you get home ok?"
"Fine mom, Love you.."
"Love you too!"she hung up and Caroline went back to watch the movie. She didn't know if Josh overheard or he just read her face, but whatever the case was he stood up took Caroline outside while the rest stayed inside watching the movie. "What are you doi-" before she could finish Joshua just hugged her.
"I don't know if this was supposed to be romantic or something cause well.. Sorry to break it too you. It wasn't" Caroline said with a smile.
"It wasn't supposed to be "romantic" Caroline, I know you don't feel like that about me." He scratched the back of his head and put his hand in his pockets " It's just that, well I came here to talk about something."
Caroline started to get worried "Caroline I'm worried about you. Jacobi told me you got another nightmare."
Caroline put her head down "yes, another one, but I'm gonna try lucid dreaming just not tonight."
"Ok" Joshua kissed her on the forehead. Caroline looked up with a confused look. After they went inside and watched the movie they all went outside to say goodbye. Right when Caroline got home she crashed on her bed. Images flashed before her eyes, a soothing voice filled her head. "See you seen Caroline, but not now you need rest."
