"Come it's starting soon" I called out as an advertisement was disappearing from the screen. A few thumps down the stairs later, Bethany appeared at the couch. She had her black hair in a messy bun and her favourite Adidas jumper. Bethany's black leggings were full of holes from wear but she had a wide grin on her face.
"Don't start it without me, Fiona" Bethany said with a laugh. I moved myself over on the couch and grabbed a pillow, even with the heater on the house was still really cold. Beth jumped on the couch and pulled one of the blankets. She was just as excited as I was for the season finale of The Back Blocks.

I sat staring at the black tv screen, Bethany was speechless beside me. The 1 hour and 20 minute finale and a wave a emotions were running over me. Obviously I was on edge about the cliffhanger but I was also happy and sad, annoyed and overjoyed, shocked and relieved...should I go on.
As soon as the last scene was shown, I turned the tv off. My mouth wide open, my hand squeezing the damp tissue I was holding. I wasn't breathing out, just breathing in, and I was blinking slowly but regularly. My eyes searched the black tv trying to find some answers but there was nothing. My breathing out broke Bethany's silence.
"Well Cooper looked great...in the first half of the episode."
"Hmmm.....Paige's outfits were stunning." We were both avoiding talking about what happened in the show. I was just in too much shock and I'm guessing Bethany was as well. I leant forward and took a sip of my drink before standing up and taking the empty packets of chips out to the kitchen. When I returned beth was helping clean up and by the state of the couch, we needed all the help we could get. There were chips on and down the sides, tissues everywhere, bottles and cans of drink on the table and a bowl of lollies upside down on the floor. While picking things up and putting things back I noticed that the pillow I grabbed before it started now had a face of its own. My makeup and tears had rubbed off on the pillow and I found it really funny. I was laughing at it, the same way a criminal laughs at police officers. I wasn't thinking straight and it was scary. I showed beth and she gave a pathetic sympathy laugh before going back to cleaning up.
In a matter of minutes we were done cleaning and sitting out the back of my house drinking hot chocolates. Although it was super cold, my oversized grey sweater and black leggings were keeping me warm.
"Should we talk about it?" I questioned and got shot down immediately by Bethany without even looking at me. I sipped on my drink, accepting that we weren't ready to talk about it. I replayed the major scenes in the episode. Cooper being shot, Paige opening the letter, Tara and Ryan getting together and Raegan and Eugene breaking up were some of the most dramatic things that happened but the episode was filled with so much more.
I thought about what Beth said, Cooper looked so delicious this episode, he had stubble and he looked so much older. Kaison Beckenbridge. The actor behind Cooper Gribble. He's only 22 and he's so successful. His film debut was when he was 14, just a young puberty stricken teen but when he hit 19 he changed dramatically, started working out, dating models and other incredibly beautiful girls even the work he was doing changed. I think it was for the best. He's the bad boy on the show but in real life he's nice and sweet, so I hear, but he still has the Greek god body and the intimidating piercing eyes.
Eventually we talked about it, we didn't get through it without crying (that's how good the show is). I worked out its only 9 months before season 7 comes out and that gave me and Beth something to look forward to. Once we got The Back Blocks out of our systems we had a very normal conversation about about my boyfriend, Oscar, and Beth's love interest, Harley...Davidson. She was desperately saving up for one.
"This has been an emotional roller coaster and I thank you for that but I better be getting home otherwise the 'rents will get annoying. I'll see you at school."
I sent her away with a quick hug and wave good bye and sat back down, finishing my hot chocolate. Bethany was the crazy, rebellious, thrill seeking person I wanted to be and hanging out with her always lead me to doing exciting things that I would never have done with out her. Anything she's up for, I usually am, but every now and then I have to draw a line, like when she wanted me to dye my messy blonde hair green for one party.
With my hot chocolate finished, I walked inside, dumped the mugs in the dishwasher and made my way to my bedroom. I was lying peacefully until I heard the ensuite sink turn on.
