So, here's a rant on Warrior cat names. Now, I do not own Warriors. Warriors is by Erin Hunter.
This chapter will range from spelling, capitalization, and names in general.
Spelling
Now, this gets on my nerves. Spelling of warrior names. Sadly, some people don't know how to spell. "Oh, Reborn, I'm not American. English isn't my first language." Well, I love and adore that you're not American, but please, if you want to keep a captive audience and have more readers, try to at least put some effort into it. I know that we all make mistakes, AND THAT'S OKAY.
Capitalization
This is /sadly/ a huge problem with some fanfictions. The capitalization. I've seen most of these misspellings:
-BlackStar
-blackStar
-blackstar
You've read the books, haven't you? It's spelled Blackstar. Firestar. Bluestar. Cloudtail. Echopaw. Greykit. Etc.
Names
Now, there are some pretty cool names out there that actually make sense! Like Echobird, or Lightningflare, or Spottedflash. Those sound cool and make sense. What I think is stupid is naming a white kit Nightkit. Seriously? A WHITE kit named NIGHTkit. I mean, if they have black spots, then that's acceptable. But a pure white kit? It would make sense if their name was Frostkit, Snowkit, Icekit, Whitekit, Lightkit, Cloudkit, Echokit, etc.
And naming it after it's personality? How can you name a kit based on it's personality when it's just been born? Naming a pure white kit Nightkit based on it's personality is kinda stupid. What if the kit turns out to be the most cheeriest kit in the forest/territories? How will it's parents know it's going to be evil or something when it's just born? It doesn't make sense.
And then there are cool names that don't make sense. Like Oceanbreeze. Cats call the "ocean" the "sun-drown place". "Mountain" is acceptable. "But Reborn, cats don't know what the mountains are. They call them Hightstones."
Well, Brook told them what the mountains were. So they should know by the lake. Now, if you're in the forest, then "mountain" isn't acceptable because they never met Brook then until they had to leave. Maybe not even then. So it's neutral.
Naming your cats after "winter", "autumn", or "summer" isn't acceptable either. "Spring" is an exception but it should be used for "Springfoot" or something like that because it mean they're "darting forward" or something like that. Not as the season. The cats call the seasons "leaf-bare", "leaf-fall", and "green-leaf". So please have some common sense.
And for the names that make no sense at all. Now, some names rhyme like Frailtail, Beetree, etc. Those are awkward to say in my opinion and awkward to read. Especially names like Illuminatedpath, Lightningbeam, etc. Those are long and awkward...
So, that's it for now! Tell me what you think and have a nice *insert time of day*! <3
