it was sometime in the fall I was playing in the yard with my dog, Tia my father was out there too chewing tobacco like he always does on Sunday afternoon my mom was asleep on the couch she has breast cancer and they say she's going to die soon my sister was with my aunt Claire they were visiting a psychiatrist office Hillary is 10 and I'm only 9 but I know more than you think "Annie!" my dad yells from the screen door "get over here your big sister is back apparently your aunt needs to talk to you" I run inside I see my mother she is still on the couch but with tears in her eyes my aunt is sitting in the chair beside her not looking too happy either and Hillary is in her room silent "mom? aunt Clair? what's going on?" I asked looking confused "honey I don't know how to tell you this but um......I uh......I I...." my mother tried to get the words out but ended up crying "honey your sister has autism" aunt Claire said while putting her arm around my mother "oh what is Autism?" I asked looking confused my aunt tried to explain it to me the best she could she told me how Hillary can't see the world the way we do and how it's hard for her to Express emotions out loud "so if mommy dies she won't even care?" I asked confused aunt Claire shook her head "no she will care but she just won't Express it like you will baby" she said "you take good care of your sister you understand? One day she'll be all you got" mom said I hugged mom and told her that I will do anything I can to help Hillary after Aunt Claire left I went outside to feed Tia she is just a puppy and is not house trained so we keep her Outback in a fence "come here Tia girl" I yell I open the gate and let myself in Tia runs up to me and licks me repeatedly "no down TT I've got you some food" I said pudding dog food in the dish as soon as I put it on the ground Tia begins to eat while she's eating I open the gate to get her some water after she is settled I close the gate and go inside I run upstairs and knock on Hillary's door I don't hear a sound I'm really worried what if something happened while I was gone? In the end I decide to go in and check on her "no no no!!!!!!! Out" she yells "I...I just came up here to check on you hills are you Okay" I asked "yes!" She said in a agitated voice "oh uh okay" I said she looks down at the floor "out!" She yells again I slowly walk out the door without saying a word I look at Mom she is asleep in the end I decided to go to my room and do some research about autism
