Chapter I

Ian just got let out of school. It is now summer! Ian ran outside with his two best friends, Krute and Riley. Riley was the only girl in their group. Ian was pretty strong and smart. Krute was tall and was good with some machines, and practically built some everyday. Ian was strong, but Riley was stronger than both of them. All three were naturally talented, but took the abilities for granted because they never were needed for anything much. Well, they thought that, but they had no idea how wrong they were.

They went to Ian's house, which was pretty big and had lots of rooms. When they got there, Ian's mom said, "Go downstairs and read in the library. There are many interesting stories you may find in there." Ian's dad had died while he was looking for something while on an adventure, but Ian wasn't sure what his dad was searching for exactly. He had told his friends about this when they first met, but hadn't thought about this for a while. "It was like Ian's mom wants us to find something down here, but what?" Krute thought aloud.

"I don't understand, she's never been like this before," Ian replied. When they got down there, they started looking for something that stood out. "Hey, what's this?" Ian asked as he picked out a dusty book from a shelf.

"Looks pretty old, don't you think, Ian?" Riley observed.
"Open it, Ian!" Krute said impatiently.
"I will," Ian said calmly, but he first looked at the book, titled Legends.

He opened it, and read chapter one. Reading aloud, Ian said, "Three items were hidden around the globe about a century ago. One had been found by a man, but he mysteriously disappeared on his way back to his wife and son, so that item is still lost. The other two ha-"

"The man who died, may have been your father, Ian!" Krute interrupted.

"Wait, you could be right, for once, Krute," Riley joked.
"Wait, actually, that would explain what happened to my dad!" Ian said, closing the book. "It all fits: my dad died while on an adventure, which it says in the book; He was looking for something, which is also true; and,

he was coming home to his wife and son!"
"This must be what your mom wanted us to find!" Krute exclaimed. "This is what we can finally use our natural talents for! Krute, with

technological abilities. Riley with strength. And me with, ummm, brains! Yeah!" Ian exclaimed. Little did they know that one of their greatest enemies on their quest to find the hidden items was watching them closely...

Ian read the chapter to himself, then skimmed through the rest of the book, slightly reading each page. "We have to go to Miami, Florida to look for the first item one that can allow its owner to fly like a bird, but faster than one. Since there are three hidden items, we can each take one and use them for other stuff, but we don't know what the other two items do, or where they are." Ian knew his friends would choose him to lead this quest, but he hoped not. He was not good while in charge, which only he knew. He felt embarrassed because of this fatal flaw of his.

"Ian?" Riley asked, because she saw him staring blankly at the ceiling, obviously thinking about something. "Should not we start heading to Miami?"
