It was way past midnight when Abagon awoke to a weak cry for help, had an intruder got past her protection charms? A quick look around her chambers revealed no such intruder and nothing out of place. So who or what cried out for help and where were they? Easing the grip on her dagger she relaxed and reached over to light the nearest candle, the candle's soft light cast dancing shadows on the walls, and the sweet smell of jasmine filled the room, her favorite.
She was alone but with the cry still echoing in her mind she was now wide awake and full of worry; someone needed 'her' but who and why? Opening a window to clear the cry from her mind so she could think clearly about what to do did not help. Now with nothing blocking a path to her mind when the cry echo through her mind the intensity of it nearly dropped her to her knees. Having to grip the window to keep from falling and she knew what need her help.
It was a dragon calling out for help and a very strong one at that, but where was it? Did she dare use the forbidden arts to find it, the elders had banned use of them for a reason after all. The cry came again only now it was a scream and it took all her training to block it out to where she could think clearly and still keep the connection intacted. Yes, she would use them, she had to use them only not here; if it wasn't safe there was no way in hell she'd put Dragon falls and her loved ones at risk.
There was no time to lose, within a hour she was ready taking only what she thought was needed. Blowing out the candle and inhaling the last whisps of jasmine she made one last check of supplies and weapons. Abagon recast her protection charms and sliped out the door, silently saying goodbye to her home. Tomorrow being the feast of the new moon she wondered if theyd go in to a panic when it was discovered she was missing.
Shaking her head clear of such thoughts she picked up pace taking the now darkened trails was like child's play and it made her smile. When she had gone almost two miles she summoned her dragon form. A form she kept hidden from even the elders in her beloved village and for good reason. A female elf that could shift to a dragon was very rare therefore highly prized and that made it dangerous.
Within minutes, a beautiful silvery blue dragon with pale green wings stood proudly where the elf had stood. Looking at herself on the rivers surface she smiled and streched her wings admiring their beauty before taking to the air
