***Next Day
***Harry's POV

I sat on the ledge of the brick wall with my friends during lunch. As I downed my ham and cheese on wheat, my phone vibrated once.

I set my sandwich down on my napkin and took out my phone from the front pocket of my jeans.

I swiped my phone open and huffed a laugh.

"Hi'ya, Baby Bro! Just checking on you to see how your 1st day of senior year went! Luv yoohz."

As I texted my sister back, I couldn't help but smile. No matter how annoying Gemma was at times, I loved her and I really did miss her.

"Hey Gem! It was what I expected. How's college? Are you sick of it and want to come home?!?! Luv yoohz too."

I smiled, put my phone back in my pocket and continued eating my lunch.

"Aw, look," Mackenzie laughed, "it's Poindexter sitting all alone again."

"So?" I shrugged. "She always sits alone."

"Maybe you should go keep her company, Harry," Mackenzie patted my shoulder. "You know, since you seemed all chummy with her yesterday."

"What the hell, Mack?" I pushed her hand off of me. "I accidently bumped into her."

"Oh my fucking God, man," Derek laughed, nearly choking on his pizza. "You actually have to spend time with her, y'know, now that she's your partner for the fucking Speech project."

"Dude!" Victor hit my foot with his empty water bottle. "You can eat her cake to get her to do all the work and get an A in Sullivan's class."

"It's probably stale," I smirked.

I instantly gained an ego boost from my friends' laughter.

See? I'm a good joke teller.

"I bet she's still a virgin," Heather crossed her arms. "I have gym with her and she wears this necklace with her initial. It's like the female nerd pocket protector."

"Yeah," I rolled my eyes, "or the ultimate birth control."

"That and her blue eyes and brown hair," Mackenzie walked over and sat on Derek's lap. "I mean, brunettes shouldn't have blue eyes. It's just weird. Poor girl. Hey, you'd be doing her a favor, Harry. She would practically throw herself at you."

"Na," Derek shook his head, "she looks like a tough nut to crack. I bet you fifty bucks she won't go out with you."

I looked over at Bea and huffed an annoyed breath.

How the hell did this even come up?

"C'mon, D, let's make it worth our boy's while," Victor took out his wallet. "I mean, look at her. I'll match it."

A hundred bucks would've helped, especially since I quit my Summer job. But then again, it was Bea.

Nope. No way in hell.

I shook my head no.

"I'm finally single and you guys are trying to push this shit on me?" I frustratingly raked through my hair. "I'm looking out for myself now."

"Calm down, man," Victor laughed as he counted the cash. "It's not like we're asking you to marry her. Fuck."

He held out the money. The tempting money.
