Unknown POV

We had gotten to this little village for the staff trials and we have been to this village time and time again. Although, nothing surprising has come from this village, but that doesn’t stop us from visiting. The only people that we ever believed in were the 3 Mag-Nets. They had showed promise when they received their staffs; each staff holding more power then the next, the three of them had become friends when they met at the academy. Now they work for the royal army. Every student in the academy wants to become like them or even surpass them but even as many try, all have failed.

I watched from my mount that was placed so I could oversee as each person stepped forward to see if they were lucky enough. I had dazed out since this was once again how it always was, boring. I wondered what we had in store for the new flight of students that would join us this year. With threats appearing here and there we hoped that they would subside with the help of the Mag-Nets of course.

“Sir, take a look.” One of our guards had told me. I looked in the direction he nodded to, to see a girl step into the staff circle.  The girl had light brown wavy hair that went to her elbows she had green eyes, her skin was fair and she had a smile on her face as she stepped forward. As soon as she stepped into the circle a staff started to glow and she stepped forward to take hold of her staff. She turned to another girl that was next in line and smiled an even wider smile.

“You have been chosen. We welcome you to the academy.” I said as I had for the last few that had been chosen. She turned to me and smiled as she walked over to the few that would be joining us back to the Academy. The girl that was next had red wavy hair she also had green eyes. She was just as happy as the girl before her. As she stepped in the staff circle her staff glowed as well. As others had to wait to find their staffs they found them as soon as they stepped into the circle meaning that these two girls showed promise. “You have been chosen. We welcome you to the academy.” I wonder what type of promise these two held. As the day passed it had been nearly dusk as the crowd stayed and only two people were left in hopes of holding their staff. As the two came up I congratulated them as they held their staffs for the first time.  I looked around at the group, 16 out of the 129 people that had stepped in the staff circle held their staffs in hand.

Now that we have everyone here we are going to start packing up.” I said as I started to walk down towards the newbies and the crowd that was around us started to dissipate. Except for this one girl she had dark brown wavy hair that fell past her elbows and her eyes were a piercing blue.

“May I help you?” as I asked this question everyone turned to look at her. She did not seem to be embarrassed by the attention on her but it looked as if she was uncomfortable because she was darting her eyes back to the group and then to me.

“Umm... I was just going to say goodbye to my sister and friend.” She said rather calmly as she looked at the two girls from earlier.

“Oh go ahead then” it was rather normal that those who went to the Academy never returned home again. She came up closer to the two girls and I walked away to help pack. So they could say their goodbyes in privacy.

“Sir what do I do with these staffs that we left in the box?” One of the guards asked with a box in his hands. “Load them up with the rest of the staffs.” I said turning around to gather the rest of the newbies and guards. The only reason why those staffs were not out was because...

“What’s going on?” I heard a guard ask as soon as I heard a crash. I whirled around to see that the box with staffs had fallen out of the guards hands and was shaking and glowing violently. I went to go see what was the matter when a staff flew out of the box in a wild whirlwind.

“Catch it!” I said as I started to chase the staff.  The others tried to catch the staff but to no avail succeeded. The staff glowed even brighter when it reached the newbies. I was afraid that it was a malfunctioned staff. That a staff holder once held the staff and threw it away thinking that the task of holding a staff was rather difficult. When a staff is thrown away it goes crazy or is unable to use again, meaning that it must be destroyed as soon as possible.  The staff had hovered above the ground where the newbies where and then the staff plummeted towards the group of girls that I had just left to say their goodbyes. The group of girls ducked but the staff didn’t move. I had no idea what was happening.

Then all of a sudden the girl without a staff reached up and grabbed the staff. As soon as the she grabbed the staff it glowed even brighter and then they flew off.

“Ava!!!!” one of the girls screamed

“Sis!!! Help her now!!” one of the other girls screamed at me.

“We’ll do what we can. Hendel get everyone else to the academy, Shawn, Aaron, Stan and Eric your with me. Let’s go.” I grabbed my staff and the other four followed me to follow after the girl and her staff.

“Yes sir” said Hendel and I turned back to see him leading the group towards the academy.   I hoped that the girl was safe on the staff and I hoped that we got to them before someone else did.
