Untitled Part 1

Chapter 1

The perfect day

One day, a teenager named Leo went out to surf not knowing what else would happen that day...

"Mom I'll be back in an hour."

"Okay just be safe and don't swim if you get a cut you know it will attract sharks to you." "Alright, bye." With that Leo ran out the door in time to grab his swim trunks and his phone. He sprinted to his Jeep. He sat down and spun the keys in his hand until he found the right one, then he put it in the ignition. His shiny black Jeep wrangler fired up and it was his dream car. He had saved all his life for it and there he was, and to think he never thought he'd sit in one. He drove down the street to his friend, Kent's house to pick him up. Kent came out of the door with a bright color bathing suit on. He was tall and muscular with a slick back hair do. He was two years older than Leo. Kent jumped in the Jeep and they took off. Leo looked out along the sea as if he had never seen it before. It was a beautiful day in Hawaii and he hoped it would stay that way. He looked out just in time to see a wave that was at least 5 feet tall.

"You look like you've seen a ghost." "No I just have the feeling something bad is going to happen today." said Leo. Leo pulled over and they both jumped out. They put on their sunscreen and grabbed their towels. They both drank some water and ran to the ocean. Leo threw his surfboard into the water and laid on top. As he paddled he saw a shimmer in the water. He ignored it and paddled on. "Watch out for the reef up ahead, Leo" said Kent. Leo couldn't hear him that well and he really didn't care what he said, so he kept going. When he came up on the reef he reached down and he cut his hand on a sharp rock. He looked at it and he knew not to put it in the water but he was too far from the shore to drift back, he'd have to ride a wave back. The second he put his hand in the water the blood trickled into and spread out. Then Leo screamed as loud as possible and Kent turned to see a pool of blood and a shark fin peaking out of the water. Kent jumped in and swam over and he jumped on the fin...

Chapter 2

The attack

Leo always had his knife strapped to his ankle and this was the perfect time to use it. Kent held on with all his strength as the shark thrashed around. Leo took out the knife and slashed at the beast. He thought it would never stop until they heard a gunshot. The shot had gone into the shark's head and Kent let go and swam toward Leo who laid there motionless. Kent pulled Leo onto the sand and the man who had shot the shark ran over. Leo had gashes in his leg and he was unconscious, so Kent's old lifeguard training came in handy as he tried to use CPR on Leo but nothing worked. By the time Kent got him to come to, the ambulance was there trying to get him on a stretcher. Leo's mom ran over crying as she gave Kent a hug. "Kent, how did you get away?" "This old man over there..." "What's wrong?" "He's gone..."

Chapter 3

The changing

All that was hearable in the hospital room was beeps and crying until Kent walked in with his mom, Jenny. "How is he?" Kent asked. "The doctors say he'll be okay thanks to you jumping in like that." "Well what are friends for?" "If you were any later they wouldn't have been able to save his leg. So thank you." "It was nothing." "Jenny, can I talk to you at the house?" Said Leo's mom. "Sure." They left and Kent sat down. He felt bad that he couldn't have been there sooner. Then the old man walked in. "Thank you, mister" "No problem, son. I heard the scream and thought I could help." "And you did. By the way, what is your name?" "You two can call me Mr. W." he said. "Okay" Kent examined the man. He was tall with a brown low cut beard and scruffy hair under his baseball cap. Then a low scruffy voice cut in. "Kent?" "Leo, here lay still I'll get your mom." "No, don't." "This is Mr. W, he saved your life." "Thank you Mr. W, I told you Kent that something bad would happen." "That you did." Kent said. "Here Leo, is it. I made this from the teeth of the shark that you were attacked by." Mr. W said as he handed Leo a necklace. "Thank you, Mr. W" Then, a nurse walked in. "Excuse me but I need you two leave so we can do some test." "Of course nurse. Come on Kent" Mr. W said. "Bye, Leo"
