"We all have our own stories to tell, some of ours are big and epic, others small and personal, but mine well mine doesn't fall into either of these categories. I don't really remember much about how my story started, but I do know this, its not the typical high school teenage girl story you see on these cw shows or hear about in the news. I guess for me you can say my story started the day I died" Lorna, journal entry 1
Its 1:30 am, and the rain wouldn't stop pouring, the howling sound of the wind could be heard as it banged the branches against the window. And even though it was a school day tomorrow, Lorna Sullivan couldn't sleep. She lay awake for hours simply staring at the ceiling wandering when she would simply doze off into dream world. Even though she knew she had to wake up in a few hours, her mind was too active for her to simply drift off. She had found out on the news that day, her best friend Marko had been executed. He had been identified as a mutant and was beheaded live. The sight of his head rolling down and lying on the floor scared Lorna. She knew Marko well, he was sweet, innocent, loved to paint and draw, he wouldn't have hurt a fly. She couldn't believe he had been killed in such a horrific manner, and even worse was the cheers of the humans who seemed to relish in his death. But it had been like this ever since the specie that is referred to as mutants had appeared, each time a new mutant had been found; they had been bound, injected with a serum to prevent them from using their powers and executed in a barbaric way. The tears on Marko's face still made Lorna sick to the stomach and made her want to throw up. She couldn't imagine the fearful thoughts that were going through his mind as the axe swung and came down upon him.
Lorna rolled over, the silence of her house made her feel claustrophobic, the darkness that swept over her made her completely alone. "I have to sleep...stop thinking Lorna" she thought to herself. Lorna was restless, she had to go to school tomorrow, and she had to hear all the students gossiping about him, the thought of all the horrible stuff they would say made her insides burn with anger. Her long brown hair lay quietly on her face, and after what felt like an eternity, she felt her eyes close and her mind drift off into the unknown.
