Rye and Dusty were really close. They had two other siblings, Willow and Daisy. Dusty was eighteen and Rye was twelve. This was Dusty's last year in the reaping. Since their family was so poor Dusty was in 57 times, Rye didn't have to do the tesserae.

Training Day
Dusty and Rye arrived at the training facility. Rye had made friends with the weak, 12 girl from 1. Dusty didn't trust her, because he thought that she was going to turn on Rye. Dusty was observing other tributes, and he wanted to team with both of 10. They seemed trustworthy, and strong.
Rye was training with a scythe, while Dusty was training with ropes. District 10 was helping him.
