Dan ran out the door of his parents apartment with a large backpack containing his important belongings. He couldn't stay any longer; not with them and what they did to him.

As he ran on the side walk at a frightening speed he bumped into a oddly cheerful scraggly man on a bench; waving hi to him. Dan tried his harder not to be rude and awkwardly waved back and continued running to the nearest hotel. He had been waiting for this day and had £1354.45 saved up from his part time job his parents didn't know about.

When he finally saw a cheap, run down hotel he booked it for a week. Just enough time to find a job and get back up on his feet.

After he got shown to his room and took a hot shower he began searching for jobs on his well past obsolete 2003 MacBook Pro. The Wi-Fi was undoubtedly slow; he got a better connection from the McDonald's across the street!

By the time he had finished his nearly perfect resume it was 11:30 PM, and surprisingly, Dan was not tired. He leaned towards staying up and surfing for jobs but decided against that and forced himself to go to sleep. It had been a long day.

When he woke up it had been 10:00 AM; I guess he was more tired than he thought. He got up, took a shower, brushed and dried his hair and applied to 5 part time jobs, and an hour later, only one sent him an email saying they will get back to him.

Shoving off his frustration he decided to get a little fresh air and walked around the block and sat at a nearby by bench fiddling with his old 2004 Nokia 7610 until the man sat beside him.

"Oh- hi! I saw you yesterday! My names Phil! But I never caught yours..."

"-Dan."

"Dan's a nice name!"

Hearing Phil babble on cheerfully put a smile to his face, and Dan invited him to join him for lunch. Phil declined, saying he didn't have any money. But Dan dragged him to McDonald's, and bought him lunch. But Phil wouldn't eat it until Dan threatened he'd jam it down Phil throat. Phil had said thank you way too many times until Dan had said it was fine and to stop saying that.

By the time Dan had departed and said good bye to Phil it was 4:30 PM, and Dan was finally home. He checked his email and tomorrow at 1:45 he had an interview for a small café by the bench where he'd first met Phil. Then his mind wandered to Phil. Fucking brilliant. He couldn't stop thinking about him! What was so special about Him? He's just a normal guy! Dan would never admit this but inside but he knew why.
