Juliet's POV
The tears refused to come even though i could feel them on the edge, just enough to cloud my vision but not enough to actually fall. I knew that it would end like this. I always knew but i didn't expect it to happen so fast. It felt as though I was being ripped apart slowly and as dramatic as that sounds it was pretty accurate. We hadn't talked in months when I had found out. As usual I had been a doormat letting everybody talk over me and yelling had never really been my strong suite so I just sat there and took all of his apologies feeling like I would die but not showing it on my face, I was just nodding at him as he just kept talking. my head hurt and I didn't even hear him anymore.
Max.
He had been my boyfriend for two years and I thought it was going well though I guess I should have known because he had been so flaky. We had been friends since they were little and i knew he had a tendency towards lying and backing out of promises and plans at the very last minute. He had the worst memory in the world and had forgotten my birthday several times; I never took offence because he also forgot things like christmas and how to spell his first name which is probably the reason he switched to using his middle name instead. In his defence his first name was hard to spell as well as say- Nuanllan. I didn't really understand why I still felt the need to defend him. He betrayed me and left me bleeding and exposed.
"Please leave." I stood up closing the curtains that my Dad had accidently left open.
"Listen please, i really need you to understand why I did this."
"I think i understand plenty so please leave."
"I don't think you do."
"I SAID LEAVE!"
He stumbled back away from me. He knew how likely I was to start throwing things at him, though he had never been on the receiving end unless it was playful.
"I just think if you would let me tell you why I did it you would understand."
"I understand plenty, I get it, but I would appreciate if you would leave my house please." My hands were shaking but I held them behind my back to make sure he didn't catch it. He usually reminded me of a cat, so striking, so sleek, beautiful, but always ready to pounce the minute he could sense your weakness.
There was a reason we became friends. I had recently joined the hockey team in hopes of a way to let out my bottled up anger without getting in trouble but it had actually turned that I simply enjoyed the game. As I continued I began to attract positive attention from people. Girls wanting to be my friend and boys wanting to date me, but they never really interested me. The boys just wanted to have sex because they thought I was hot and the girls wanted to associate with me for god knows what reason. I had never been an expert at small talk which was probably why before I had gained some popularity (as small as it was) I had never had a lot of friends.
When I met Max I had been dating an Indian guy who liked to kiss to much. I couldn't even remember his name now if you put a gun to my head, but the girls said he liked me and he was cute so I flirted a little and he asked me out. Max had been in my class for a couple years but I had never really talked to him because we ran in different social circles. He tended to hang out with the hippies who sat on the picnic tables during lunch and playing guitars singing about peace and things like that. He had long blond hair and brown eyes, he always used to bring his ukulele to school and sang with a girl with long pretty red hair (usually seen with a flower crown), while my group of friends tended to consist of sporty types, jocks. Before my joining the hockey team most people had thought I was a delinquent. I had an addiction to dying my hair and five piercings on my face, seven on my ears, and a bellybutton piercing. most people called me a dyke as well as other things but when I joined the team I took out my lip piercings but left my septum and my ears alone, I started to dye my hair blond only; even I had to admit that i looked pretty good like that, typically pretty, my body build had always been somewhat pear-shaped, my breasts being too small in comparison to my large hips.
Apparently Max's mother and my mother had been friends for several years and one day my mother as the socialite she was, she held a party at our house (as much as I tried to talk her out of it). My mother had issues with letting people talk. always interrupting others. I hated it.
Max had been there and god was I bored with my mom's pretty girl-friends so I smiled at him, swung my hips and my tongue swiped unconsciously at the place where my piercing used to be. He smiled back and we started talking.
It turned out that we had lots in common. He wanted to go into the military after High School which his hippie friends had not been very appreciative of his career choices but I had always thought it was admirable.
He was amazing. Straight A's and all that. He was very smart but he seemed uninterested.
I found that I really liked him
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Max rubbed my back.
"I said leave!"
He looked shocked but stood up and left.
He cheated on me with my brother.
I had known he was bisexual but that didn't really give him the right to cheat. If he wanted to have sex with guys then we could have been Poly but he didn't have to go behind my back and cheat on me, with my brother no less
I ran out the door grabbing my keys in my way out. I had to see Ervin, my brother, to see what possessed him to sleep with my boyfriend.
I was crying and that was probably my downfall because by the time I noticed the truck in front of me it was too late.
