I'm floating in a black void, until light starts to shine through. I try to open my eyes, but it seems that I can't. So I wait in my bed for a minute or two, until I open my eyes and realize that it's my mom opening my curtains. "Morning sunshine" she said, "morning mom." I was still kind of groggy so I ended up mumbling the words. "How's my favorite daughter doing?" "I'm doing good I guess, and I'm your only daughter." I chuckled, "Oh I know that silly," she waved her hands, and with that left my room and went downstairs to make breakfast. With a sigh I got up from my bed and went straight towards the bathroom. After I took a nice long hot shower, I went into my room and stood in front of my closet. It took me a while to decide what I wanted to wear before settling on wearing black skinny jeans, my Linkin Park T-shirt, and one of my favorite blue hoodies. I went to the bathroom once more to do my hair. I looked in the mirror and chose to put my hair in a ponytail. With one more look at myself, I approved everything with a sigh, and went downstairs. While walking down the stairs, I heard the light laughter of my mother, and the hearty laugh of my father. My mother and father were complete opposites of each other. While my mom was a petite and quiet woman, with a slight goofy side, my father was a very big and boisterous man. My father was more like a lumberjack and my mother was more of a damsel of some sort. I sat down at our small cherry wood table, where food of all sorts were laid out. Just staring at the food made my stomach rumble with hunger, it made me drool a little too. I hear a laugh and look up, "Hey sport, you're drooling there." His words quickly brought me to the realization that he was right. "I am?!" I quickly wipe at my mouth, which made my dad laugh even more. "How bout you eat the food instead of just staring at it" I look at him, nodding in agreement to his words. "Good idea." I start to wolf some down, but then realize I should savor the delicious food that my mom made for me. As I was busy indulging myself, my mom and dad were having a conversation that I wasn't really paying attention too, but then my mom pulls me out of my trance. "So, sweety, what are you doing this weekend?" I look up at her, but then I look down at my breakfast. "I was just going to hang out with some friends of mine," I said quietly. "And which friends are you hanging out with?" My mother looked skeptically at me. When she looked at me like that, I couldn't help but tell her the truth, then later kick myself for doing so. "Um... Just some friends..." I try so hard not to look at her, because if I did, I'd give in. " Is that so?", I could only manage to answer with a meager, and sad, "Yeah." It's quiet again, and it is beyond unbearable. "Could it be the friends that I said no to hanging out with?" she said very coolly. "Maybe...?" my mom looks at my dad, and they both let out a sigh. "You know how we feel about you hanging with those kids", my dad says. " I know but..." My father shook his head at me disapprovingly. "No excuses. I don't want you hanging with those kids, period." He gave me a stern look. "Do we make ourselves very clear?" I look down at my plate in defeat. "Crystal." Everything is quiet again, and it goes on until both my parents and I were done with our breakfast, and took care of our plates.
