Zombies, what? We all know what they are, we all know, they, probably, will never exist... Yet, why are we so keen on making them alive? Why do we keep searching reasons to bring them up? Why make movies, books, maybe even songs?

Those were my thoughts, alright. But, just like on every other story ever created, I'm proved wrong. My name is Aro Rivers, I am, or was, fourty years old, at least, that's what I think since I last saw a clock and the date...

You're probably wondering what's happening. What happened?

Well, for starters: no, there was no Zombie apocalypse or anything. Like I've thought so many years ago Zombies did not exist, they still do not exist. But, something worse does. Something more damaging, something wrecking...

Humans.

Yes, indeed, humans do so much more damage. Let me explain myself because

I can already sense your confusion. Believe me, I suffer confusion as well, I can't explain myself well enough without going back to those days and confusion is one of the biggest things that still linger in my mind at the thought of our situation back then.

I can still remember it as if it were just yesterday...

"Aro, turn on Channel 24..." My friend, Tonny, had said in a rush, I answered with a grunt of acknowledgement.

"Breaking news," said the reporter "Doctor Schmith has, finally, been set to justice for his crimes, though, results have not been studied, many report them as a positivity to human kind. Leave you to it, Mason" the female, a blonde one smiled to the camera as it changed to the man.

"Aro...?"

"Yeah, T?" I replied.

"You know the real results, right?"

"Yes, I do, but if the repots they've been sending have been coming out positive, there's nothing we can do about it, you know?"

"I do, I do, but we have to, Aro"

"No, Tonny. When I said I was done with Schmith, I meant it, I'm not turning back now..."

A few weeks later, I had taken off with my friend to a shelter in the downtown, a house we had created for ourselves since we had known what things would get like even before the Doctor was taken away. Things turned very up-hill by the end of this week, an illness had been brought up, which, gave us (me and Tonny) the assurance that our results were true, but it was too late for us now, hell, it was too late for anyone, unless you knew how to protect yourself from bone breaking, blood drinking, flesh eating, killer humans. We knew.

This went on for years, the "bigger" people took matter into their hands and destroyed the monsters along with nature. Out of this, died another 54,000 or so. After a couple of years, nature was restored, so were human beings and a new civilization.

"Welcome to Amberville, where your dreams become destroyed and your body becomes our lab rat..."
