Chapter 1

RACHEL'S POV

I closed my algebra book and sighed.

Well, it's not like I have anything better to do than homework. I don't have friends. So what am I supposed to do?

I rolled off my bed and walked into my bathroom to have a shower.

Ten minutes later, I stepped out of the bathroom and put on my pyjamas, which consisted of sweatpants, a hoodie, and a pair of knock-off Ugg boots. I then made my way downstairs.

When I stepped into the living room my parents greeted me with huge grins.

Uh oh.

"Rachel, sit down, we need to talk," my mother told me, pointing to the sofa opposite them. I sat down silently. "Your father and I have come to a decision," she said.

I smiled fakely. "What is it, mother?" I asked softly.

"We can't afford you any more, so we have no choice but to let you go." She smiled sickly.

"Excuse me? What?" I asked in confusion.

"We don't have the money to look after you any more, so you can't live with us. You have to leave," my father told me.

They're kicking me out. Where am I supposed to go? I have no one.

"You have an hour to get your stuff and leave," my mother said, smiling like a mad woman.

Oh wait, she is a mad woman, she's kicking her own daughter out of her house!

My eyes widened in realization of the words that just left my mother's mouth. My heart was shattering as the seconds of silence passed. I couldn't breathe no matter how hard I tried. I felt the tears in my eyes overflowing. I stood up and dashed out of the room and up the stairs.

"Don't forget, you have one hour!" my father yelled as I ran up.

I slammed the door behind me.

You will not cry, Rachel. No crying. You don't love her, she's a monster. No crying, no crying, no crying! You will not cry over this!

I looked at my clock. It read 6:15pm.

I let out a deep breath, walked to my closet, and pulled out my suitcase and duffel bag. I put in everything I would ever need: clothes, a pair of shoes, a blanket, a pillow, my wallet that didn't have any money in it, my phone (nothing special, just a Nokia), and my toiletries.

I finished packing and looked at the time. The clock read 7:00pm. I sighed and sat on the edge of my bed.

What am I going to do now? I don't have any money. I have no where to stay. Looks like I'm homeless.

I walked downstairs with my bags, passing the living room where my parents were sprawled across the sofas. I walked into the kitchen. I took as much food and water bottles as I could fit in the remaining space of my bags. I looked at the clock again.
