Counting by the minutes

Part title

"I don't know. I'm gonna- I'm gonna go tell Ella what happened. I'll be back in an hour or two" I say. He nods and heads over to his phone, going back to whatever he was doing.

I get up and walk to the door, closing it gently. I hide my runny mascara eyes and run two dorms over to Ella's room.

I enter and find cam and not Ella. I can talk to him, right? We've been friends longer than me and Ella, and I got them together. He was like my other bestie. My brother almost.

"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked, as he saw my state of being.

"Nick was making out with some other girl when I walked into his room." I said, used to the information by now.

He gasped, enveloping me into a hug. "well, he can go die in a hole for all I care. Let's go to a movie. Maybe you can invite your new roommate. Who is he anyway. I hope he's nice, if he's not I'll beat him up. Has he hurt you already, I'll go right now-" I cut him off.

"Your rambling again!" He tends to ramble a lot by the way. "And to Answer your questions. Maybe I'll invite him. Michael Ivison. He's nice-ish. He hasn't hurt me."

"Okay, invite him!" He says excitedly.

I nod and hug him before heading to the door.

"Meet you at the theatre at 3:00 k" I say quickly before shutting the door.

I get to my room and find him in the same position as before.

"Hey. My friend told me to invite you to the movies with us. Are you coming?" I ask. He looks up from his phone and smirks.

"Sure princess. But don't think I believe for a second that you didn't have the idea to invite me" he says.

"Why would you think that" I ask.

"because you have a crush on me. All girls do" he says, as if it was obvious.

    "All girls except me" I roll my eyes and head to the bathroom, fixing my makeup before heading out.

     "Sooner or later you'll have a crush on mua! I promise you" he said.

     "we'll see about that" I say, heading out the door behind him.

    We get to the local theatre near the campus and are greeted by Ella and Cam.

   "Hey, I'm Michael. Most of you know me already, I'm kinda famous" he smirks. I slap his arm and give him a death stare.

    "I'm Cam, this is Ella. What movie do you wanna see. I'm thinking revenant"

    "Yeah, I want to see that movie so much"

   "Umm... No" me and Ella said in unison. They stared at us in confusion."way too violent and scary. Did you see the bear in the trailer!" Ella protests.

    Michael smirked again and put his arm around my shoulder. I stiffened up immediately.

    "we'll protect you guys. Cam protects Ella, his girlfriend and I protect heather, my... Friend" I shrug his arm off my shoulder and glare at him.

    "Fine" I huff. Him and cam celebrate with one of those man hugs. You know, the ones that all guys seem to just know how to do, yeah that kind of hug.

     We got all our stuff and sat down.

   Me and Michael were gonna share popcorn and Ella and cam would share. I also got a cherry icee mixed with coke.

      Michael got a coke and a pack of twizzlers. I watched the commercials, bracing myself for the movie.

     "How violent is it gonna be Michael?" I whisper to Michael.

    "Kind of really violent" he smiles and turns to opening his candy packaging. "Also, call me Mikey , not Michael. It's too formal"

    "Ok micha- Mikey " I correct myself and turn to Ella.

     "I hate this" I whisper. She nods and makes a disgusted face before turning to cam with a smile.

    The previews ended and the movie started. Mikey (still have to get used to that name) squeezed my hand in support and let go, grabbing a huge handful of popcorn and shoving it in his mouth.

     -30 minutes later-

    Okay, the bear scene is ov-

    "Ahh" I scream, clutching Mikey's arm. He looks at me and smiles. I shut my eyes and bury my eyes in his chest without thinking. As I pull away he looks at me.

    "You don't have to move" he whispers. I smile and lay my head back on his shoulder, trying not to focus on the man getting mauled by a bear in front of me. I look at my wrist as a distraction.

     I hope days pass by quickly. Do I know them. Could it be- no. Or- no. Not them. At least, I don't think it's them. The baker twins. They both have a little bit of a crush on me, but I've always denied them because of Nick. Maybe I should go out with one of them. Matt or John? I don't know, I'll decide later.

       The rest of the movie I zone out, thinking of random things. I can't wait for the play that we are starting auditions for tomorrow. We got the scripts the last day of last year. We were doing Beauty and the beast m . I was trying out for the roll of belle, though I doubt I would get it.

        I'm shaken by Mikey and I look up. The movie is over.

      "That was awesome!" He yells.

     "Shhh. Yeah, it was... Good" I lied. I didn't really watch it.

     "Did you actually watch it?" He asked.

     "No" I look around, avoiding eye contact. I was a little embarrassed that it was that scary to me.

    By now cam and Ella had left so it was just me and Mikey.

    "Wanna go back or go somewhere to eat on campus?"

    "Starbucks?"

     "Your such a white girl, princess"

    "No! And stop calling me princess!"

     "Whatever you say princess"

    "Ugh. I hate you"

     "Not for long"

    I give up and storm out, leaving him to trail behind me. I wasn't really mad if you couldn't already tell. He was just really arrogant.

   We got to Starbucks and he stopped in front of me, causing me to bump into him from behind.

   "What?" I ask.

    "Nothing" he said. "Umm, let's go home"

    "No, I'm getting Starbucks" I protest, shoving him out of my way. I stop, my jaw dropped, maybe I should've gone back to the dorm like Miley said.
