I crumple to the ground. Pain sears through my right arm . My eyes close, my light fades, darkness. Silence....
I awaken to the sound of a fire crackling the sweet smell of cinnamon. My eyes slowly adjust to the orangey glow of the fire. I try to move but I can't, my arm it won't move. I crane my neck to look. There is a blood soaked bandage wrapped tightly around my shoulder to my forearm. Then I hear it... The door... Footsteps slowly approach me from behind, warm breath caresses my neck. I freeze then it hits me. Cinnamon. That smell, that particular smell, I remember it... It's him...
I suddenly exhale, I don't recall holding my breath, my lips curl into a small smile as his footsteps advance around the couch that I'm propped up on. He slowly appears in the corner of my eye, I stay facing forward but my smile widens, he approaches my side and kneels down so he is eye level to me " Hello Alexa" he whispers in my ear. I turn to face him and as I stare into his deep blue eyes -the same eyes I fell in love with- I say " Nice to see you again, Nico." His arm raises to meet my right arm I wince as he touches my badged shoulder he slowly unravels the bandage, I feel pressure released from my arm, he places the palm of his hand on my wounds I bite my lip to stop myself from screaming in pain but I know what he is doing I have learned to just let him do what he has to. I'm so engrossed in thought that I don't realise the golden bright light surrounding my arm I only notice when the pain disappears. I snap my neck round to look at my shoulder and the bullet wound is gone the only trace left is the dried blood staining my arm, I turn to face him again and throw my arms round his neck and pull him into a fierce hug "I missed you Alexa" he whispers into my ear. " I missed you more" I whisper back before kissing him on the cheek.
