"Potter!" Draco shouted and threw his wand to Harry, right in front of the dark lords face. Hermione turned her attention towards the blonde boy and it felt like time was standing still for a moment, and her eyes connected with his before he was pulled back by his father, what was he doing?

"'Mione?" Ron asked as he walked out of the bathroom, tying a tie around his neck "Have you seen my socks?" Hermione put her earring in and straightened up, fixing her black, knee length dress as she did. She rolled her eyes and smiled softly at her boyfriend "Yes" she pointed to a chair and Ron looked over, "Ah" he let out and nodded, walking over to get the socks.

They were attending their graduation slash memorial dinner. Everyone had went back to finish their education the year after the war, everyone expect Draco. No one complained though, no one missed him, not after what he had done. Hermione on the other hand, couldn't stop thinking about what she had seen, and she wondered if anyone else had noticed. She knew Harry had, but he didn't want to talk about it.

"Hermione!" Ginny squealed and hugged her best friend "I've missed you!" she said and Hermione hugged her back, laughing "you saw me last week, when we got our diplomas" she laughed and Ginny laughed too. Harry walked up to Ron and gave him a hug.

"So now what?" Ron asked and Harry shook his head smiling "what?" Ron asked confused and Hermione placed a hand on his back "we graduated a week ago, slow down". She kissed his cheek and they all entered the great hall, one last time.

Ron was stuffing his face with food as soon as McGonagall had finished her speech and the food appeared. Hermione laughed softly and rolled her eyes, taking small bites off her plate. Everyone chatted and laughed, having a good time, some more people had speeches and around 2am, the festivities ended and everyone went back to their own lives.

Hermione woke up, turning around to face Ron, but he was already up. She sighed and at up, rubbing her face. It had been a week since the graduation dinner, and she had one more week until she started her job as Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She was really excited, and she was also excited for Ron who had gotten a job as an Auror, along with Harry. The Golden Trio would work together, and she couldn't ask for more. She got out of bed and saw Ron sitting on the couch. She walked over and wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek "Good morning". Ron didn't answer and Hermione opened her eyes, looking down at an envelope for her. She didn't see the big deal, until he turned it around and she saw the seal. Green, with a snake. She frowned and walked around, sitting down next to Ron on the couch.

"What's that?" she asked and Ron handed it to her "I haven't opened it". His voice was hard, obviously not happy about this.

Hermione opened the envelope and started reading.

Dear Granger.

She rolled her eyes at the name, and continued reading.

First, I would like to apologise for the way I have treated you through out the years.

Hermione crumbled the paper up and walked over to the kitchen, threw it away and sat back down next to Ron who placed a hand on her thigh "what did it say?" he asked and Hermione shook her head "some bull shit apology" he kissed his cheek and leaned back in the couch. She didn't want to read it, but a part of her was very curious.

The rest of the week, no more letters came for either of them, and Hermione shrugged it off as a one time thing, having believed that maybe he would send another one since she didn't reply. She was getting ready for work, as Ron waited for her in the living room. They had found this apartment a few weeks after the war and continued to live here now after they had graduated. It wasn't a big apartment, but it was cozy and it was home for them now.

Their first day had been stressful, trying to get used to everything, and Hermione had to stay behind after Ron and Harry had left. Ron told her that he would have dinner ready for her when she got home, not that she really believed it, he would probably fall asleep, so she would get something to eat on the way home.

After finishing up what she had to do, she made her way out of the ministry and tried to decide where to eat. As she was walking, looking down into her purse, she bumped into someone and dropped her purse, making some of her stuff fall out.

"Gosh, I am so sorry" she said bending down to pick up her stuff, and the other person did too "don't worry about it, Granger" Hermione looked up at stared into two piercing stormy grey eyes, and she was a bit taken back. "Malfoy?" she asked and got her purse as she stood up. Draco handed her a tiny notebook and she smiled at him "Thanks".

"No problem" he said and put his hands in his pockets "have a nice day" he said and stepped beside her. Hermione turned around as he walked, now was her chance to ask why he did it, what she saw.

"Wait, Malfoy" she said and Draco turned around, hands still in his pockets "I was going to get something to eat, feel free to join me if you want to?" She wasn't sure if he would, not after everything, but he had sent her a letter trying to apologise, so why not?

Draco's mouth slightly formed into a smile and he shrugged "sure, why not" he said and walked back over to Hermione.

They sat down at a small diner, muggle owned, and ordered some food. Hermione looked out the window and back at Draco, who, for some reason, was staring at her.

"I know you saw it" he suddenly said as he picked up a fry. Hermione turned her head towards Draco and raised one eyebrow "me, throwing my wand to Potter" he dipped the fry in ketchup and placed it between his teeth, chewing down. She nodded and picked up her fork "I did".

There was a slight silence before Hermione looked up "why?" she asked and Draco sighed, dropping a fry and placed his hands on the table. He looked directly at Hermione "becuase" he started "i realised something".

Hermione leaned against the table "realised what?"

"That I was wrong" he shrugged and picked up the fry again as Hermione looked at him confused "care to elaborate?" she asked and Draco smirked.

"I did what I could to fix my mistakes, I even ran back to fight, but not for the death eaters" he said and moved his fry around in the ketchup "but no one knows that" he said and looked up "expect for Lucius and Narcissa".

Hermione frowned at him saying their first names, were they not speaking to him anymore? She had gotten the answer she had wanted for so long, but now she had more questions. "Why the sudden change?" she asked and took a sip from her drink.

Draco shrugged and pushed his plate away "I don't know. I just, saw Ha- Potter, and thought maybe I could help, but then our eyes locked and..." Draco trailed off and looked out the window, Hermione's eyes widening "and I don't know, something changed. I wanted to fight, I wanted to be good" he looked back at her "but you know this, I told you about it in that letter i sent you" a faint blush crept on his cheek and Hermione frowned, looking down. She hadn't read that letter, and now she felt bad about it. "I'm sorry" she said and Draco looked at her confused. She got up from her seat and ran out from the diner, forgetting her purse.
