LET'S RANT ABOUT ANGSTY PHANFICTION
LITTLE WARNING ABOUT THIS FIRST CHAPTER:
I AM ABOUT TO SPOIL QUITE A BIT OF THIS BOOK, SO IF YOU PLANNED ON READING IT, THEN I DON'T SUGGEST READING THIS..
ALSO, IF YOU'RE NOT OKAY WITH LGBT STUFF, THEN I SUGGEST THAT YOU DON'T READ THIS AS WELL.
IF YOU MADE IT PAST THAT THEN YOU'RE GOOD TO GO PROBABLY.
(also, something that's probably kind of obvious; i like caps lock a lot. go ahead, fight me for doing that. there's another reason not to read this..)
OKAY I'LL START FOREALZIES THIS TIME.
*ahem* *gets out big fat story book and opens to page one*
GATHER ROUND MY CHILDREN IT'S STORY TIME.
So I'll admit that I have a bit of an addiction; I read Phanfiction.
YES. I READ PHANFICTION. GO AHEAD. FiGhT mE.
Anyway..
So I've been reading this one called 'The Benefits Project' by (and if you see this then lemme just say that I LOVE your booksssss) and I LOVE IT SO MUCH but omg I can't read it for too long or my heart explodes from too many feel/angst attacks in a row.
Also the chapters are like 50 Wattpad pages long each and there's like 25 chapters so it kind of takes forever to read..BUT IDC I LOVE IT ANYWAY.
SO HERE'S WHERE STORYTIME BEGINS. I NOW WILL SUMMARIZE THE STORY. HOPEFULLY YOU DIDN'T WANT TO READ IT THOUGH BECAUSE I'M ABOUT TO SPOIL LIKE ERRYTHING UP TO LIKE CHAPTER 15 AND BEYOND.
So:
The very first chapter is the prologue (oh and fyi the entire book is from Dan's pov except for the author's notes) and it starts out with Dan and Phil in 'Primary School'. Phil is a bit of a troublemaker, and because of it, Dan breaks his arm for flying off a swing, gets in trouble by the principal for feeding a lion (seriously dude?) at the zoo, and plenty of other stuff. Then, in year 7, Dan realizes that he's different from the other kids. He discovers that he's gay. Since Phil is bi (in the phanfic) Dan goes to Phil first, and tells him. Some friend he turns out to be though, because the same day that Dan told Phil that, Phil left Dan for another group of friends, and when Dan tries to talk to him, Phil calls Dan queer.
Now when I read that I was just sort of like...UM. NO PHIL. NOT OKAY. THAT WAS HURTFUL. YOU MADE SENPAI SAD. tHoU sHaLt pAy FoR tHaT. I mean I know that there had to be some conflict in the story but...I still didn't like it.
So anyway, after a while, Dan makes another friend, actually he gets a group of friends, Louise, PJ, and Emma and some other people that I can't be bothered to name. Dan realizes something after Phil leaves him though..he likes Phil. That part could probably be predicted though..it is a Phanfiction after all..
ANYWAY
So Phil isn't against LGBT people, even though it may seem like it. Every student in his school, no matter what their sexual orientation is, has.......done..that..with Phil. So Phil really is bi, and this proves it. All of his classmates are just one-hit-wonders though--he does it with them then moves on to another target. Emma and Dan were the only people left for Phil to get, and Emma said that he'd never get her, and he'd never leave the mark on her (the mark is a hickey pretty much) but at a party..he got her.
So yeah then Dan was the only dude left for him to get.
WELL I JUST REALIZED THAT I SKIPPED A HUGE PART OF THE STORY.
It's called the Benefits Project because they are assigned a project in school where they have to research a cause. They aren't allowed to partner up with who they want though, the teacher got to choose for them. And go figure--Dan got partnered up with Phil. Phil is kind of Dan's bully though, so it wasn't as good as he would have wished. Dan likes Phil though, but all Phil wants is to get Dan in bed.
