It was midnight when she fled from the palace.
Her blonde hair rippled behind her as she ran, her red ball gown glowing a menacing crimson in the moonlight. She heard a voice calling for her, but ignored it. He didn't deserve to waste her precious time. She sprinted to the stables, and jumped onto her black stallion. The horse flew into the forest, bounding over the path. Soon, she was far from the castle, and all was well.
Her journey was long, and it gave her time to think about the events at the ball.
There were people everywhere. Ladies dressed in every colour of the rainbow swirled around the ballroom, but none of them caught the prince's eye... Except for one.
She arrived late. Her long, honey blonde hair was tied back in a thick and intricate braid, her silver eyes coldly scanning the colourful room. She looked... Different. Mysterious. Dangerous, even. The prince glided towards her with ease, putting on a flirtatious expression that usually worked with women of nobility. It didn't work with her. She just watched him with a strange curiosity, like a wolf staring at a sheep. It unnerved him greatly. So he struck up a conversation.
"What is your name, milady?" He started.
Her eyes glinted. "Adlanniel." She answered simply. He smiled and nodded.
"My name- is Basil." He smiled again.
She smiled back, the curiosity never leaving her eyes. Basil believed he was swooning. She was beautiful..
"Would you... Dance with me?"
The night went downhill after that.
He didn't remember much, his head was swimming and the world was blurry. All he remembered was her face. And as quickly as she came, she was gone. He stumbled out of the ballroom, chasing her. He called her name, but she was gone.
