Amber Enchanted

Chapter 1

"Luke! Move over!" shrieked Amber.

"Nuh-uh. You're going down." he challenged.

"You wish."

They were in Amber's bedroom, playing pre-birthday video games, when her phone buzzed from inside the bedspread. She looked at her phone, reading the message. LOCK YOUR DOORS. STAY INSIDE. RECENT BURGLARIES. DETAILS BELOW.

"Luke, make sure the windows are shut, and the doors locked okay?"

"Okay," Luke hesitated, "But why, what's wrong. You've never been paranoid of anything."

"Just do it now, and fast."

As Luke walked around the house shutting everything, as Amber looked at her phone for more information.

"Probably just a false alarm." She thought, but still read the details.

"Burglaries going around the San Francisco area. None of the victims have been stolen from, just reported picked locks, and things out of place. No suspects in custody."

Per her parent's request, Amber had download an app on her phone that alerted her of any breaking news in the San Francisco area.

"This happens frequently, most likely nothing major." She thought to herself.

Amber delicately plucked a piece of sushi from the tray that sat between the pair of them, as Luke, having returned from checking the house, followed suit. He knew better than to ask her why, he never questioned anything she said, mostly because she replied with, "I have a gut feeling."

"Where did you get this sushi anyways?"

"My parents left it in the fridge, I think my dad made it."

"What did he put in it this time, it tastes different. Are you positive this doesn't have alcohol in it? He may have made these for a dinner party."

"Luke, you know my parents, the only thing they drink is that herbal tea. Plus they don't even have parties."

"Are you completely sure?"

"What? Dont mumble."

"Are you completely sure?" Luke repeated. "Your voice was slurred."

"Come to think of it I am feeling dizzy. I'll get us some water" Amber offered.

Amber barely made it off the couch before she slumped to the ground. She and Luke heard a racket at the door before everything went black and they slipped into oblivion.
