Knock, knock, knock! A muffled voice hollers at you from the other side of your door, "c'mon, get up Sarah we need eggs for breakfast!" Sunlight streams through the window hurting your eyes as you cringe and squint to open them. "Sarah, are you up?", the voice of your younger brother whines again. "Yeah, I'm up", you sigh as you finish getting dressed and open the door you find your little brother expectantly gazing up at you. You mess up his short brown hair with a sleepy smile, "morning", you utter, slipping past him and wandering into the front yard. You struggle to open a heavy sack of corn and then pelt your grassless front yard with kernels. SQUAAK!!BAWWK!! Chickens swarm the area freeing up the coops, and you collect about a dozen eggs. Before heading back inside, you linger dwelling on the beauty of the orange and rosy pink dawn-just a few days ago a morning like this would've consisted of panicked running into the woods beyond your family's farm, fleeing from a militia of demonic creatures. However, just before anything could attack your village, word spread that the general of the evil army simply vanished-even more unsettling, the hero disappeared as well. "...But as long as it meant your village's safety, it must be for the best.", you think in your mind, as you wade through the chickens entering your house. After making the long awaited scrambled eggs for your brother Edgar, your parents wake up. Your mom grabs some eggs and makes a plate for your dad. "Morning honey", she says tired. Your dad sternly looks at you and gives you the list of chores for the day, as was the routine "...and I want you to collect some firewood in the forest, I've chopped the last of our lumber." He finishes. You head out into Ente Isla trading in the market, bartering for tools and supplies, all the while receiving the talk of the town. "Pam Pistachian and Dante East (two elite members of the church) are finally getting married!!"one woman ecstatically exclaims. "Yayy!" you sarcastically cheer in your head. After this, you travel back home to enact more chores; pumping water, washing clothes by scrubbing them in a tub and hanging them on the line to dry. Once you've completed this, it's lunchtime, and your dad returns soaked with sweat from weeding the fields. You both head inside famished, your mom already has stew dished up and on the table with cups of water. For a few minutes your family eats in silence, but then there is a conversation about Pam Pistachian and Dante East. Then you say bye to everyone, readying yourself to go gather the firewood from the forest. You grab your families wooden cart and start off into the woods. You slip a deeper and deeper into the woods, not seeming to find any sticks large enough to be worth carrying. The tree canopy thickens, until it becomes like a ceiling made of leaves, blocking out the sun light. Now you're fetching some pretty decent sized a logs, but you're starting to feel insecure in the shadowy cover of the trees. There is no sound, nothing moving-as if you were in a vacuum of some sort. Had the birds stopped chirping? Had the squirrels stopped barking? You decide you have enough wood for at least today and start to turn back, but out of the corner of your peripheral vision you glimpse in illuminating purple glow. You turn to see shafts of purple light shining through some trees. Now you're really ready to get the heck out of there. But even before you move you start hearing low growling voices- low growling inhuman voices. Terrified you abandon your cart and slowly, quiet as can be, back the frick up. crunch, crunch, crunch...THUD THUD THUD!!  " Oh God!", you think to yourself, closing your eyes for a brief moment, heart sinking into your feet, terror sweeping over you as the subtle crunching sound of your feet lightly stepping on leaves is replaced by the logs from your cart being knocked on to the forest floor, you've accidentally bumped into them. Everything is silent for a second. You freeze, praying that whatever creatures are in the forest- no doubt part of the army of darkness-disregard what they just heard, but a breeze rushes past you, carrying your scent up ahead. sniff...sniff...sniff sniff "DID YOU HEAR THAT?", a thunderous voice asks. Another voice adds, equally as tumultuous "DID YOU SMELL THAT?". You stand as still as possible while turning to run. "DO NOT GET DISTRACTED WE MUST FIND OUR LORD AND I CANNOT MAKE ANOTHER PORTAL!!" a third higher voice commands, but the demand was to deaf ears as the monstrous beings started to crash toward you. For a split second you spot them behind you, towering Giants uglier than a vampire bat, with enough words to make a toas jealous and of course, with clubs in hand. Then, you bolt. Dashing through the trees , you notice the Giants have split up and realize they might be trying to work a plan. So, in order to outsmart them you loop back to where you started. Just as you suspected the area is completely uninhabited as you reach it. The violet luminescence is in front of you, and the Giants -figuring out that you figured them out- are closing in. You sprint towards the last escape-the only opening is where the amethyst glow flares, so you sprint into it's light.
