I let him lead me to the back of the palace and out the door where he then picked me up and took off running at his normal pace when with me, just fast enough not to be seen but not too fast that I cant take in the trees and know where we are going. I gasp as I see the full moon above through the trees and tried to squirm away knowing the last time I saw it I ended up taking a life. And I have never been able to forgive myself since.
"Relax Lil," Nicholas whispers softly. "I won't let you hurt anyone, not even yourself." He smiles softly and holds me tighter as I struggle to remain me. All too soon my small control goes at the worst moment. Right as he leaps over a deep canyon I manage to break free from his grasp only to fall down into the canyon below. As I fall I hear him call out my name. I twist around in midair to see him dive in after me his arms outstretched to reach me. I see the fear in his eyes as I plummet to my doom too far for him to get to me fast enough.
I lose all thought as I see the moon again directly behind Nicholas. My body starts to shift. I panic and scream. I twist around again to see the ground rushing up to me a hundred yards away and getting closer by the second. My body Shifts completely into that of a small white fox and I try to call my wings to me but I am no longer in control of my mind. I watch helplessly as I fall to my death.
Suddenly I fell hands around my stomach and then a sharp tug and I'm no longer falling. The small fox form let me fall slightly slower than my bigger human form and Nicholas was able to catch up to me. Right on time too. He unfurls his giant black wings and presses down hard working to gain altitude. His toes brush the bottom of the canyon and then we rise back up into the night sky. I look up at the face of my savior and lover. I give him a toothy grin and then freeze.
I'm in control! I think to myself. I guess the near-death experience enabled me to gain control of my head and body again. I think with a smile. I look at Nicholas again and see his look of confusion as he flies us both up to the top of the canyon edge. He is wondering if I am still unable to control myself. I think to myself.
I give him another toothy grin and nod my head twice answering his unspoken question. He nods back and carries me to safety. I snuggle in his arms and watch the landscape go by. I call my wings to me and feel them unfurl from my back. I spread them slightly showing him I want to fly too. He laughs and drops me. I release them all the way and let the wind catch them. I pump my wings to get close to him and catch a thermal. I Shift back to my human form and speed up passing him.
I'm sorry I skipped the beginning of the story. This part comes later. Lets start from the top. My name is Lillian Rayn Lunai the first. I am from the planet Raunia in the Milky Way galaxy. Now I know that the people on earth think they have it all figured out but they really don't. We are a more advanced planet and have learned to shield our whereabouts from others like the humans on earth.
There are many different species on the planet. One species is known as Elementals. There is nothing they can't do with the elements. Shifters are another race. They can shift into anything living. And they can shift certain parts of their bodies to. We kinda started the whole mermaid myth on earth. It was never manatees. We just implanted that thought to hide our presence. There are also Energies. They are people with extreme powers. They can turn their bodies into straight energy turning invisible and moving at extreme speeds. They are the police of our planet. Then there are the Galaxians. They are our royalty race. They have many abilities that include a gift from all the other races. They can shift into one animal and manipulate a certain element as well as energy.
One thing that is never allowed though are Hybrids. The races are allowed to mingle but to procreate with another is strictly forbidden for it produces a Hybrid. They all end up insane. They are normally killed at birth. Which sucks because that is what I am. Though my mother broke the law and let me live she has has to work very hard to keep my Hybrid identity a secret. As Queen of Raunia she should have killed me as soon as I was born. That is the one time a Hybrid can be killed easily. From what I've heard my father is a Shifter though I've never met him. I am half Shifter-half Galaxian. I am kept hidden most of the time. Though because my mother is a Galaxian I can come out and mingle from time to time. People credit my multiple powers to being a Galaxian. Even my father thinks I am normal. Oh how I wish it was true. Not much is known about Hybrids except that they can't control themselves on the night of the full moon. The moon of our planet calls to them. I know from experience that when I catch sight of the moon that I lose control of my body and I lose who I am. Thankfully that is only when it is full. Most nights I am safe.
As a Hybrid I am virtually untouchable to those of my planet. The only thing that could kill me is say falling off a cliff or a bullet to the head. Though that has to happen when my guard is down. Thankfully that is rare though. My gifts allow me to protect myself easier.
I have certain gifts that allow me to read minds among other things. I can know when someone is about to take my life and can usually protect myself. I also have the ability to command. It's a very rare ability. I can command people to be silent and they cant speak until I or another with the ability release them. If someone tries to harm me I command them to be still and they are frozen there until I call for back-up. Other gifts are out there but they appear as one matures in life. A few are telekinesis and telepathy. Command is one of course but only a few have it and they are all Energies with a couple being Galaxians.
Any who that's enough for a history lesson. Let's start from the beginning of the story. Hang on to your hats ladies and gents, It's about to get good.
