She lays in bed, alone, thinking about him. She always thinks about him. He's only been gone for 3 months and already she misses him much much more than she expected. She thinks about the first time they kissed. Not the first time the team saw, on New Years, but the first time.
It was about a month before that New Years and they had just gotten back to the cave from an extremely tiring mission, she went to her room and slumped down on the bed with a groan, she felt like she had done a million things wrong, she would never admit that but she always felt this way after every mission, she always did well to hide it though.
She hears a rush of wind past the door and hears a knock, Wally is standing there looking at her, she can't decipher his expression. Instead she looks in his eyes his gorgeous loving emerald green eyes, knows she can't hide it anymore and breaks down right in front of him. He runs towards her and folds her into his embrace, she collapses into him and lets out all the fear all the worry of keeping her secret, she cries like the world is ending and then cries some more. When she is finally done the room is dark but Wally is still there holding her rubbing comfortable circles on her back, his shirt is wet where the tears fell but he doesn't seem to mind, he never seems to mind anything with her.
She quietly says "don't tell them. please, wally, let this stay between us."
she looks up at him and he has a confused look on his face. "why would i tell them? you think I've never cried after a mission, seeing innocents get hurt and all the evil there is in the world?"
"wally i didn't cry because of the mission, though that didn't make things better. I cried because this whole "hero" thing, wasn't meant for me. I was meant to be a cold, hard assassin, that's the way I was raised, and i'm so terrified that its showing through. I've been trying to decide if I should quit the team..."
he cuts her off before she can finish "no!" his expression looked so sincere "i mean....you cant quit the team, we need you. I need you."
she didn't expect him to react like that, he always acts so annoyed with everything she does, she thought he would be happy with it.
He looked directly into my eyes and said. "Arty look...you cant leave the team, I... I actually really like you. That's why i'm always so mean to you. I like you so much i don't even know how to act around you." He had a little bit of a smile on his face as he waited for her response.
She thought "I must look very surprised" (which she was)" and unhappy with this" (which she wasn't) cause he immediately looked away and his smile vanished. "I shouldn't have said that..." he muttered to himself.
"No Wally I'm so glad you said that." she was starting to feel very shaky. "Cause i feel the same." she smiled at him after saying that last part, she was so glad she could finally tell him how she actually felt towards him.
He looked up at me and a huge smile grew on his face. "Really?" he asked, she could feel the excitement in his voice.
"Of course."
He came closer and took her hand. looking directly into her eyes. "I've loved you since the first time you came into my life."
"I love you too"
Then he did something she wasn't expecting, he reached his hand to the side of her face and pulled her face closer to his, then he kissed her. It was short but so meaningful, they pulled away and he smiled at her, then he pulled her in again and they kissed again, and again, a true, full kiss.
that was over 5 years ago now. She feels tears filling in her eyes from thinking about him so much. She looks at the picture of them together and all the tears fall. "i miss you so much."
