Luke19:41
As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it.
If Jesus sees the walks into the city
And sees the dancing of feet
And the waving of leaves and the crowd as they scream
Then WHY does He weep?
You see, some call Him crazy and others deranged
But I truly believe He had eyes full of pain
And He looked at the people as the tears fell like rain
His heart going insane
As they called out His name...
JESUS!!
Why would He weep?
Why would He mourn?
With the streets full of praise
But the church full of scorn
He had a heart condition...
It was broken and torn
Luke 19:41-42
As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it. And said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace-- but now it is hidden from your eyes."
With eyes blinded by lies
And souls barely alive
People call out His name
And rejoice as He rides by
One a creature too young to even realize
The importance of life
This man carries inside
What He is we can't see with our natural eyes
As the hope of the world humbly passes on by.
If only they had known on that day what would bring
The peace that we long for
The peace that we need
But the cheers turned to jests
And we grow with unrest
Struggling to invest
In this man that's been blessed
With wisdom and knowledge
He taught and we learned
With compassion poured out healing
We could never have earned
My life was a mess
But that mess had been turned
Into something of worth
So then why on this earth
Would we choose...
HIM!
Like Barabbas we choose sin
And choose death over life
Because we don't want to change
And can't see through these eyes
We chose Him to die
And a murder set free
And still to this day we truly can't see
The life that was given
Was for you and for me
See, He wasn't just good
And He wasn't just man
He was the Son of God in heaven
With healing in His hands...
And walking among us was part of the plan.
The plan of redemption
The plan that would save
Any being on this earth
That would call out His name
But our eyes had been blinded
And our hearts didn't know
And we couldn't understand Him
And our hate began to grow!
So we drug Him through the streets
Where He taught us and healed
And we threw Him in the dirt
Where we should have been killed
Like the adulterous woman
In the mud there He lay
But we didn't show mercy
We still called out His name...
JESUS! JESUS! JESUS!
In those few short moments
We determined the fate
Of the man they called Jesus
Who had only shown grace!
See, we chose Him to die
But we didn't understand
That to die is to live
And this is where it all began!
So to Pilate we took Him
And then to a post
Where His flesh was ripped open
And His blood began to flow
We cheered with excitement
As hell offered a toast
But, there is one thing that no one,
Even Hell, didn't know
They shouldn't get too excited...
It's the blood we need most!
The blood that gives me strength from day to day... It will never lose its power!
For the life of the body
Is in its blood
So the blood wasn't death
It was life in the Son!
See, the blood is what cleans us
And changes our hearts
Blood is life to the body
And we are the parts!
If the church is the body
And Christ is the head
Then, His blood is our life source...
And the old man is dead!
But the eyes were still blinded
And the hearts didn't know
And with anger still rumbling...
We put on a show.
See, WE went His forest
And WE cut down His tree
But HE made it a way of salvation for me!
As He walked up that hill
To "The Place of the Skull"
And He stumbled and fell
And to His father He called
He said, "Please forgive them,
they know not what they do."
He was all while weeping
Because He loved You!
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
His blood-stained cross reinforces
That His love for me is real
And not only am I forgiven
But, "by His striped I am healed!"
See, He didn't just beat death
He didn't want to just win
On that cross He also carried
My wickedness and.. My sin.
