Westberg Lane: Talib story

Background

Protagonist - Talib-the seeker Donovan

Born on April 8, 1998, outside of Los Angeles, Talib grew up as your typical valley kid. He has a 19 year old brother, Pierce, and 17 year old sister, Shaundi. They all lived in the same household with both parents who are very religious. Talib was born with a ventricular septal defect, which basically means a hole in his heart. This condition is usually treated with surgery after birth but in Talib case, it goes much deeper. Every year on Talib birthday, the strange hole would develope again in his heart. Not only that but the side effects got worse and worse as he get older. When he was a kid, he would get hallucinations of dead love ones like his grandma Raberda , insomnia, and sweat in uncomfortable situations. Now that he is older, Talib started having asthma attacks without even having asthma, throw up, fast heart beat, and even otterbody experiences, at least that what he thought those were. Talib would always get it treated the week after his birthday by surgery and prayer from his church. No doctor or pastor knew exactly why this happen to him. During the operations, Talib would have these weird dreams of a strange light figure that leads him into this dark abandoned town, where snow flakes fell from the sky but no snow, fog so strong made the air thick to breath, buildings that look like they were burnt and flooded at the same time, and crows that watched him on every rooftop. A town where there is nothing but remains of pain and agony represented by monsters that God himself couldn't create. A town named Westbury Lane. Talib used to be so scared of what life is left in Westbury or better yet having no knowledge of where Westbury or why it is the way it is. He would tell his parents about the dreams and they would believed him. The only problem is that they thought it was just God sending down angel who would let Talib see what hell is like so that he would never want to sin. His parents ignorant reasoning for the dreams, made Talib a mad child. A child who grew curiosity and questioned everything since he thought his parents were just as confused he is. Since they are old school Christians, he got prayed upon every sunday at church because their pastor thought it was a "gift from God". Talib remember every night, while in Westbury Lane, the strange light figure would hold his hand as it is the only light that shined so bright in this entire town. Talib could never figure out who this light figure is because every he would stare at it, his eyes would quickly since it was so bright like a sun and white like a star. Every dream, while Talib is being operated on, the unknown light figure would take him to a new era of Westbury Lane. He would go to a hospital, school, hotel, market, and even the town hall. They all were full of these terrible unreal creatures that hid in the shadows. The creatures all tried to attack Talib but couldn't because of the unknown light figure. It would protect Talib from them by beaming light at them, which made them burn alive . The creatures were the only thing that the light figure would protect Talib from because Talib would get scraped up due to rubble and glass that was left behind in building. It was everywhere in the town. Talib heard people whispering to him, saying " we shall complete you, your journey ends here, answers lies beyond the beauty, come home, the SEEKER". Besides the strange dreams and heart problem, Talib had another obstacle that made his childhood challenging. Talib is a homosexual. A african american homosexual in a very religious household. Talib always knew that he was but also knew it was wrong because it goes against the faith system he was taught to believe. He was bullied a lot and frowned upon by his parents because everyone saw how unmasculine Talib was but didn't want to believe it. His dad did everything in his power to make Talib manly, like making him be apart of a football team with his brother, get boxing lessons, or making him go work with his uncle as a carpenter during the summer. Those made Talib a tough kid but it also made him despise his dad more because he was always being compared to his brother who was already masculine and more like their father. Without any support from his father, Talib joined the cheerleading squad and actually won a lot of awards. At sixteen, Talib has already started talking to other guys. He never had sex with no one because to him, that meant he was not sinning as long as it was just "talking". He slowly started to accept that fact that he was gay. He told Shaundi since she was the only one in the family he was close to. Shaundi would always tell him to just tell their parents because she never really understood the damage that could bring. He never wanted to either until one day after school, Talib was hanging out with a guy, he met at a game he was cheering at, in a park. His name is Joe. Joe was a year older than him and they both liked each other. It was getting dark as Talib had his first. In the middle of what he thought was the best thing in the world, he was snatched from Joe arms as he look up and saw it was a good friend of his parents, Donald. Donald said he was going to tell his parents and Talib was coming with him. Donald drove Talib home, Donald trusted Talib to tell his parents because he thought it was a family issue, not his. Talib sat down with his mother. He thought it was the perfect time to since his father wasn't home from work yet. You could tell how nervous Talib because he was sweating bullets. He held her hand and just said it. He told her he was gay. Her face changed from a soft smile to a shocked stare like she just watch the whole world get eating by a robotic alien shark. She quickly pulled her hand back. She got up and started to walk up stairs. Talib just sat there as that sweat slowly turned into tears. Before she got to the steps, she turned around and said " When you turn 18 Talib, you're getting out of my house and this family. Don't forget to change your last name". She then continued to walk up the steps and then slam the door to her bedroom. Talib walked up and sat down next to the door of his mom bedroom. He heard her cry and pray for about an hour. He was about to get up until he heard her phone ring, it was his father. When she answered, Talib heard her yell at his father. Telling him about what Talib told her. He just sat there as he was hallucinating a town full of angry people trying to destroy this child. A orphan. The hallucination quickly as he heard his father stumble in the house, close the door and threw down his car keys, Talib father saw him sitting at the bedroom door. He gripped Talib up and started beating him up ruthlessly with his bare fists. Leaving a mark on Talib forehead from his wedding ring. Talib saw the fire in his father's eyes that was slowly burning out from tears. Talib ran into his bedroom when it was all over. Talib started to rebel against his parents rules a lot more after that night since of course, he was a very angry human being. He did drugs, drank, coming home days later but always stayed on top of his grades. His parents stop caring when it comes to Talib as they only paid attention to their other two kids more. Talib best friend from his cheer squad, Tori, told him that he could stay with her when he was 18 since she too was moving out of her parents at that age.

ALLY - TORI-the indigo BLANK
Born on January 15, 1997, Tori was raised in Calabasas, California to a multi million dollar CEO father and magazine editor mother who she watch cheat on eachother basically her entire life and a little brother that's slowly destroying himself. She never saw her family and lavish lifestyle as something to be look at as positive or happy. So she look for it in others. 13 years full of gymnastics, cheerleading, and acting roles, Tori's mother expect her to be perfect and had no problem showing. Making Tori a very indecisive person who is used to everyone else opinions being her's. The effects from her father's broken promises and absence in her daily life, cause her to look for attention from men. This conflict all started when her parents had a cocktail party in the house, Tori was 5 and she was sleep with her brother. She woke up in the middle of the night because she needed to go to the bathroom. She was scared of the one next to her room, so she went to the one at the end of the hall. When walking in there, she saw a man at the sink. She said sorry and was walking out when he told her to come here. He pulled out candy and told her to close the door. She did what he said. The man molested Tori and told her not to say anything. She walked out and ran down the steps and into her father's arms. She screamed "that man touch me, daddy!" over and over. Her dad looked at the man and saw it was his boss. He looked at her and called her liar. The told her to go to her room. From that day forward, Tori relationship with her dad never been the same.

ADVERSARY- NATAS
The Natas is the god of Westberg Lane. Before he got that title and name, he was just a normal kid growing up in Westberg. His name was Peter and only had his mother in his life. Since his parents weren't married and father leaving when Peter was 5 , the town folk of Westberg thought he was a warlock or demon. They believed in this messed up religion where all orphans or children born into a family that wasn't married, were spawns of Satan and therefore needed to be a blood sacrificed. Daughters were burnt at a stake and sons were drowned in rivers as mothers and fathers cry and scream. Peter was killed at 10 by his town. Natas was thrown overboard and was swallowed up by a world pool. He suffered getting stabbed by a swordfish and leaving big hole in the middle of his stomach. His corpse floated to the tip of the water as the town folks all praise and rejoice. But it wasn't over. Peter walked on to the dock. He turned around and saw his human body floating as he has become transformed . He gotten bigger and had swords as arms and feet. He had twisted metal that decorated his body, both inside and out. He had no stomach no more , just a big hole that lead somewhere. There was this triangular piece of diamond that covered from his neck to chin. He was so angry but no one could see him. No one but the other orphans who too been transformed. They all gather around to watch Peter break off the clock that once stood in the middle of Westberg. When the clock cracked open, a black cloud came. The whole town became one big shadow as all u could hear was screams of pain and destruction. FIre that lit up the whole town, turning it all into ashes but was washed away by a big flood that happened afterwards. He watched as the world he once knew be taken by the world it put him in. A world that now crowns him Natas, god of westburg. A new Westberg that exposes what goes on in the minds of children with messed up parents.
