It all started when we were just 14. Quite a young age for love as it might seem ,  we were happy and that's all that mattered. I was in year 9 at the time, and there was this new guy that had joined our school, he was so good looking, I mean Justin beiber looks, oh yeah, that good looking! His name was Brandon. He was in all my classes-you name it, he was in it: English, math, science, geography, history ect.

We were in drama one lesson and miss Burnett had put us all in pairs. I got put with Brandon and we had to perform a scene from Cinderella. As cringey  as it might be, I wanted to preform the married scene! Anyway he was a total stunner and that first conversation went a bit like this:
Me: "hi my name is urm poppy."
Him: "hi my name is Brandon"
At this point it was going pretty smooth, the conversation kept flowing. Until my mouth went off the rails...
Him: "are you any good at drama?"
Me: "I am when working with a hot guy."
Him: " o.okay, urm thanks."
Me: "NO NO urm I didn't mean it like that at all, aha..."

I completely ruined it (well I thought I did) and I went bright red.
"Are you alright?" Brandon questioned, his dimples glistening like diamonds.
"Yeah I'm fine, I've just got a hot flush," I replied, lying through my teeth.
"It's just you seem a little, you know, pink."
"Trust me, Simon I'm fine," I replied. With that I realised, I've only been working with him 45 minutes and already got his name mixed up with my ex!
"I mean Brandon, I'm fine Brandon. I am really sorry, I've just got a lot on my mind at the moment."
"It's fine poppy, don't worry." Brandon said, softly.
He stared into my eyes and I stared back. I sunk in his eyes, they were deep blue like the ocean. With that, the tannoy went, telling us to go to next lesson.
"Well I'll see you in French." Brandon said, he smiled, widely, it was cute.
"See ya," I replied with a smile so big, it was clear I was blushing.
We walked off in different directions looking back before Turning a corner.

Before I knew it, it was lunch. I was starving! I met all my friends in a house base where we usually eat lunch. I was in such a good mood.
"Why are you so smiley today?" Summer said questioning me.
"Nothing I just really like drama," I replied trying to hide that I liked Brandon.
"She got put with the new guy, Brandon," Katie butted in, laughing.
"So what if I did, it's acting remember?!?" I blurted out giggling even more.
"Oooh, has little poppy got a crush?" Summer shouted.
"Maybe," I said with an obvious smile.
All lunch I just couldn't stop thinking about next lesson, a spare seat next to me- where Brandon could sit. I could ask miss if he could sit there, for extra support, but then he might sit with Connor. He is popular remember. I just couldn't stop thinking about him, his dimples, smiles, personality, his name (BRANDON, NOT SIMON) his kindness, ticks all the boxes really. I like him, I like him a lot.

The tannoy interrupted my daydream and told me to go to next lesson, which was French. I had to make sure I was front of the line, just so I didn't get embarrassed. When I got there, I realised it wasn't my teacher. Which meant it was a supply. Urhhh.
Since it was a supply, we just decided to sit were we wanted, the teacher won't know ha ha. All the popular lads sit on the same table- right sat the back, where they could trade sour worms and blueberry bons bons. I sat with all the popular lasses, because I was popular. (Not trying to be big headed or anything aha) Connor came up to me. He asked me out. I said no. Sorry Connor. I wanted one boy- Brandon. I really liked him and every so often I had a sneaky glance for as long as I could before it got interrupted. Then I went to look over to him (as you do) and he was already looking. I felt really pleased. Did he like me? Or did he find something funny? Or did he look at my spot on the side of my cheek? Or was he looking because he wanted me to be with Connor? Whatever he was looking, now that's cool.
