Chapter 12:
Max pov
(Seth and Zee's date tonight)
It's Sunday morning. I don't go to church.
11:30 a.m.
I called up Rachael.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
We've been hanging out often since we met. Almost everyday, actually.
"Just woke up." She replied in a sleepy voice.
"I was wondering, fo you want to hangout today?" I tried to sound casual.
"Yeah, sure. What time and where?"
"I don't know. Go wake up and stuff then call or text me." I replied.
"Alright, Bye!"
I thought she was perfect. The only thing I didn't like about her was her voice. It was like so squeaky, you winced when she spoke. I wish she had a more mellow, and calm voice. Zee had a nice voice. It was soft and gentle. I could listen to her talk all day. Wait. No, Max. You can't say that. Not about Zee. Besides, Rachael had a nice voice. I could listen to her speak forever. Uhm.
I winced at the thought of that.
I decided to get ready to hang out with Rachael. I showered and got dressed and such then went down and made myself a sandwhich. Then I waited.
12:47 p.m.
I heard my phone vibrate on the counter. I grabbed it to see a text from Rachael.
- Hey! Can I come over? :)! -
I hated the way she texted.
- Yeah! -
I also hated the way I texted.
She got here in about twelve minutes.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
"MAAAAXIIIEEEE!!!" She squealed through the door.
Ugh, that voice.
Ugh, that nick name.
Ugh, that girl.
She was almost perfect.
I was so rude. I didn't like her squeaky voice, but when she wasn't squealing her words, she sounded like an angel. I could fall in love with only her voice.
I let her in, only to be wrapped into a bone crushing hug. I hugged her back.
"So, what do you wanna do?" She asked softly, in her angelic voice.
"Well, uh, we're the only ones here, so ..." I winked.
"Oh. My. God." Her eyes the size of dinner plates, "Let's make a fort."
I laughed out loud. "You know me too well."
And there we went. To make a fort. Yay. Can you hear the sarcasm?
The fort, I'll admit, was awesome. I had a staple gun, don't ask why, so it made it ten times easier. It started in my room, and stretched endlessly into the hall way, down the stairs, through the living room, and into the foyer. On the stairs, we layed out cardboard from the top to the bottom. We taped it down and made it a slide. In the living room, it was just a mini hallway that lead to our base. The foyer (pronounced foi-yay) had a little table in the center the blankets and sheets blocked out light. We plugged a lamp in and it sat near the wall. We stalked it with junk food and soda. In my room, there was board games and a television. We finished at around 2:30 p.m. We hung out in the fort until about 5:00 p.m.
"Uhm, my parents are gonna be home soon, we should probably take it down." I said, a little bummed out knowing that I couldn't keep the awesome fort up.
"Awe, alright." She said,
Another hour or so was spent taking it down. Not too bad.
6:30 p.m.
I don't know why, but I called Zee. Rachael was in the bathroom.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
"Hello..?"
"Zee! Hey! I just uh," Shit. what do I say? "I just wanted to apologize for uhm, ruining you little, er, moment with Seth. Haha."
"Oh uh, yeah.. It's okay." She chuckled nervously.
"Yeah, I was wondering, actually, if you wanted to hang out on tuesday?"
I waited for an answer.
"MAAAXXIIEEEE!!!!" Rachael squealed.
Dial tone. Fuck. She hates me.
I went back to Rachael, pushing the phone call out of my mind.
Rachael said she had to leave at 7:00. When the time came I walked her to her car. I grabbed her arm before she got in.
"What is it?" she asked, a puzzled look plastered on her face.
Now was my chance. I know I wanted to but should I?
I looked down at her lips. Pulling her closer to me, I wrapped my arms around her waist.
Her it goes.
Now or never.
Bam!
I pressed my lips against hers. She wrapped her arms around my neck, and deepened the kiss.
Yes! Score!
Then all went bad. Zee popped into my head. Dammit! I pushed her out and kept my mind on Rachael. After a couple minutes, we pulled apart.
"So, I'll call you later I guess?" I said and scratched the back of my neck nervously.
She smiled, her pink lips looking perfect. "Yeah, alright."
Then she left.
Gosh. That was, umph. I smiled to myself and went inside.
Today was good.
