Kim's POV
English, 3rd Period, Wednesday 20th May 2015 ...
I felt like normal as I walked into the classroom without making a single sound. I had been at Newton Moore for about two weeks, so I knew who to hang out with and who to not. I saw an unfamiliar face walk in. I thought she looked awkward and felt a twinge of sympathy deep within my soul. She sat down at a desk; coincidentally it was my friend Kim's desk. I saw the irritated look on her face as Kim saw the new girl take her seat.
The teacher called the roll. She was old. About late fifties. She was skinny and frail, but at the same time tall and willowy. Her grey hair was like a halo around her long skinny face. The new girls name was before mine. It was a name I was quite familiar with. Her name was Jana. I had a friend at Dalyellup College called Yana; she was the one I didn't like because she broke my crayons.
The teacher - Ms Hall – had finished giving instructions and was helping the new girl- Jana- with what she needed to do. She must be smart, I thought. Well she was in the top class with me.
Ms Hall had finished telling Jana what to do. She looked awkward and shy. I was doing my assignment in class on pandas, and she must've been too. She came and sat next to me. "Hi," She said awkwardly.
"Hello," I said.
"So," She said. I could tell she was shy by her body language. If her clumsiness was anything to go by, she seemed pretty funny. "What's your name?"
"Kim,"
"Nice. I'm Jana." I nodded as if to say cool but the word wouldn't come. I was too socially awkward. We didn't talk much, just about our work. She made her brainstorm all colourful, and her writing all neat. I had to admit, I was pretty jealous of her handwriting. Her mid-brown hair was up in a ponytail, with the bits in front of her ears out. She had freckles on her, which basically covered her face. She seemed pretty nice.
I think I can be one of her friends, I thought.
