For those who haven't heard... please pretend like the original Forgotten never happened. While writing chapter 1, I plotted out the first 7 or 8 chapters... When I rewrote Assassins, I just added a few new chapters at the beginning... with Forgotten, the entire story has changed. (My beta has assured me that what I have planned sounds even better than the original story was, and she was a huge fan of the original.)

Here is my birthday present to y'all... FORGOTTEN! in all it's brand new glory. Check back each Sunday for the next installment. :)

Also, thanks to @babyblue7990 for allowing me to bounce ideas off of you and for not telling me the whole thing was crap. >_<

Alex:

I twirled a strand of my blonde hair around my finger nervously as my mom turned slightly in her seat. Her reddish hair was twisted in a bun, but I'd seen her re-do it four times in the last hour in an act to seem calm.

"Do you need anything, Sweetie?" Her smile was tight, as if trying to convince me we were on a vacation instead of moving across the country. We were just about to leave the rest stop and I still had no idea why my family had suddenly packed everything we owned to move across the country.

I slowly shook my head and nibbled on my lower lip thoughtfully. The only thing I wanted was my old life back.

"Let me know if you change your mind," she murmured as she turned back around.

I watched from the back seat as my father offered his silent comfort by gently squeezing her hand. I hated this. I hated that I was the cause of their worry, and I felt like I was the reason we were moving over two thousand miles from everything we knew.

Hours later, I slinked down in my seat as my dad pulled into a gas station. "You two stay here. I'll pump the gas and go pay for it."

The sun slowly dipped beyond the horizon as the shadows around the small gas station grew. I felt a creeping sensation along my spine, as if someone were watching me. I couldn't pinpoint which direction the feeling was coming from, but I wished my dad would hurry.

My mom sat forward slightly as she watched my dad disappear inside the dimly lit building. A light flickered multiple times overhead before it suddenly went out completely. My mom quickly locked the doors and slid into the driver's seat as I ducked down even lower in my seat.

"What about Dad?" I asked in a whisper. I felt like my heart was going to pound out of my chest at any moment.

My mom put the car in drive. "Don't worry about Dad. He can take care of himself." Her voice shook, which made her sound less than convincing. Just because he could take care of himself, didn't mean he should.

A growl sounded just outside the truck. I squeezed my eyes shut, as if that would keep whatever was out there from seeing me.

My mom inhaled swiftly as the truck shook. I whimpered, and my mom softly said, "It's alright. We'll be fine."

Moments later, the doors unlocked and my dad threw himself inside. "Go!" My mom pushed down on the gas. She accelerated quickly, and we fishtailed out of the parking lot.

"What was that...?" I asked. My voice trembled, giving away my fear, as I closed my eyes in horror, "And why are you naked?!"

"I guess someone just decided I'd make a good target to steal things from. I didn't want to cause any problems, so I gave them everything they asked for." My dad sounded only mildly worried about that as he twisted slightly and pulled a pair of boxers out of a bag that was sitting in the seat between my parents. That didn't answer the question about why he was naked.
