Chapter 3

We all laughed as Greypaw went in search of Talonheart.

Snowpaw shook her head. Then Moonberry called for her. "Bye I have to go! Sister don't cause trouble." Then she raced into the Medicine den.

"HEY, I don't always cause trouble!" Shouted Rosepaw, she turned back to us. "Hmm, who wants to go put ants in Shadowwind's nest?"

We all shook are heads. "What, it'll be fun." Rosepaw woofed.

Then her mentor Lighningheart padded up. "What would be fun, may I ask?"

Rosepaw turned and yelped. "Going out and finding fresh-kill for the elders!" Then she raced off through the entrant. Lighningheart padded off after her crazy apprentice.

"Well that now just leaves us three." Stated Tigerpaw, stretching his legs. He was Foxpaw's brother, my brother's Raggedpup's best friend. We decided to go over to the rocks by the entrants and laid down.

Then Tigerpaw and Riverpaw's mentors Leafpelt and Talonheart came and told them that they were going to battle train.

"Bye Tearpaw! Tell your brothers I can't wait until they become apprentices!" Howled Tigerpaw, Riverpaw snickered.

I sighed and watched them go. After they left the camp I closed my eyes and dosed off.

"Tearpup." Someone called, I opened my eyes to see a bluish grey wolf standing in front of me.

"Hi Blueflames!" I jumped to my paws and raced over to him, I nuzzled his cheek.

Blueflames was my mother Silverpelt and Moonberry's sister Brownshadow's mate. Brownshadow died 4 moons before me and my brothers were born, defending our mother from a badger.

"It's almost time for your apprentice ceremony." He woofed, wagging his tail.

"We're becoming apprentices today!?" Squeaked Tearpup, then she began to groom herself. Blueflames joined in and by the time Whitestar jumped up onto the High Rock, she was all ready.

"All wolves old enough to catch their own prey gather under the High Rock for a pack meeting!" Howled Whitestar.

The wolves all came out of the dens and patrols that just got back went and settled in front of the High Rock.

Tearpup looked toward the nursery and saw Silverpelt and Mooncloud come out behind her brothers, she ran over to them.

Whitestar barked, "We have some pups who have reached the age of 6 moons and are ready to become apprentices! Come stand in front of the High Rock, Raggedpup, Tearpup, Snapperpup, and Killerpup!"

We all padded to the front with our heads held high. We stopped in front of Whitestar as she looked down at us with pride.

"You four are now ready to begin your training, do promise to uphold the Warrior code and defend your pack even at the cost of your life?"

"I do."

"I do."

"I do."

"I do."

"Then by the power in MoonPack I make you apprentices! Raggedpup from here on until you earn your warrior name you will be Raggedpaw, your mentor will be Blindface!" She waited as the two touch nose and went to sit in the front. "Tearpup from here on until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Tearpaw, your mentor will be Blueflames!" She waited as me and Blueflames touched noses and went to sit next to Raggedpaw and Blindface. "Snapperpup from here on until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Snapperpaw, your mentor will be Lightwind!" She waited as they did the same as us then continued. "Killerpup from here on until you earn your warrior name you will be known as Killerpaw, your mentor will be Patchtail!" Waited for them to touch noses, "This meeting is over!" and then jumped down.
