"Technology has become an essential source for humanity in the recent years as scientists have worked new ways for it to benefit life. In the medical field--"
"Researchers say in the next five years--"
"Try our new easy to handle product--" Click. All noise dulled from the television.
"Unneeded," commented Mora, a pale android with a young adult body model. Wavy, snowy-blonde kept hair reached to her lower back, and her blue eyes pierced through everyone who dared to look her directly into them. She fixed her tie and pressed it down against her work uniform impatiently.
"Hey, come on! I was watching that!" shouted Asaka. Asaka quickly turned her head towards Mora, all the while gripping onto her sangria-tinted dreadlocks and making them look less messy. "I told you to stop turning off the TV!" her gray eyes met with Mora's, only to look away a split second later.
"Like I said, it was unneeded. What will television do for you? You can simply download the information onto your memory." Mora replied nonchalantly.
"It fits in the entertainment category for a reason, Moe!"
"Don't call me that." Mora stared down at the fellow android. "Go do something productive, will you?"
Asaka pouted, ruffled out her skirt, and walked to the activity hall. "Why does she always do this.." she muttered under her breath.
"Ah, Asaka. Nice to see you." A voice sounded as Asaka entered the activity hall.
"Hmm? Who said that?"
"How can you not recognize my voice? You see me everyday." The voice said louder as it approached her, revealing its owner.
"Oh, Rose!! Sorry, it's just that-"
"It's fine. Where are the others?" she abruptly tilted her head, trying to move her overgrown hickory bang away from her exposed eye.
"Well, Mora is in the waiting room, and Bruno is supposed to be running late. I don't know what's up with Atsuto. Where's your sister?" Asaka replied.
"In the bathroom, 'trying to make her makeup look nice' probably for her crush or something."
"You mean Jessica?"
"Of course I mean Jessica. She talks about her appearance and personality non-stop. It's annoying."
"How cute!" "Romance isn't cute. It's the cruelest form of torture." Rose responded.
"In your opinion. I think it's cute." Asaka said, not noticing she already lost Rose's attention.
"Look over there. What's going on?" Rose whispered. Outside, a crowd formed around the curb near the coffee shop.
"Do you think us and the others should find out?" Asaka asked.
"I guess so. I'm pretty curious on what it is that's causing such a big cluster." The two began to search for the rest of the group throughout the floor.
"Moe!! Moe!!" Asaka shouted while dashing through the halls.
"I told you not to call me that!" a voice bounced off the walls.
"Found you!" Asaka took a left and ended up in the conference room. "Why 'ya here?" She entered to Mora staring at a paper set on the table, printed in neat handwriting. "...And what's that?" Asaka asked.
"It's... I don't know. Some weird letter we got. I don't understand it." Asaka grabbed the paper off of her and began to try to decipher it. No success. "What type of language is this?!?" She shouted in frustration, slamming it back down onto the table.
"It's not a language. It's a code." mumbled Atsuto. He stood awkwardly in the doorway, shifting his arms and staring at the floor.
"Took you long, commoner!" Asaka exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at him.
His eyes crossed as he fixed his focus to her index finger. "I was helping Bruno," he said in an unimpressed tone," the kid can't even keep his car keys in a stationary spot."
Bruno rushed in, pushing Atsuto out the way. "I'm here!" he announced.
"You're late," Mora scolded, ignoring the excuse Atsuto gave.
"I'm sorry, I can't help it that my place is always a mess!" Bruno yelled.
"And? Clean it. You have the time." Bruno growled softly at her remark.
"A-anyways! Everyone is here except Monica. Rose!" Asaka shouted from the doorway. "Is the crowd still the--ere?"
"Of course. Crowds like this last for twenty minutes. Monica said she's not coming, something 'important' came up," Rose responded, walking into the room,"let's just go without her."
"Fine with me," Atsuto uttered.
"Alright. That's alright.. yes." Asaka stammered at the quick response. They hustled down the steps and exited the building.
"Now- it's this way, right?"
"No-- no! That's not the way at all. Take a right!"
"Not that way either." The group's voices mixed in with each other.
"You---" Mora firmly smacked her foot onto the ground, swinging her arms down simultaneously, as if using that energy to force her voice out, "--Idiots!! You cross the street, take a left, continue on halfway, then cross the street again! The curb would be right there!"
"Mora, why don't we just cross the street right here then?" Rose pointed to the crowd which was no longer than a few feet away.
"That-- can work also. I guess my GPS doesn't work very well."
"Seriously? A kindergartner can figure this out."
"Don't compare your boss to a kindergartner. I never took school."
"Peasants, hush! We are here!" Asaka exclaimed, putting her hands on her hips.
"Pretty quick." Atsuto stated, pushing past the crowd and leading a path for the rest.
"Wo--ah," gasped Bruno, "looks like some crazy alien crime scene!"
"Don't compare it to some extraterrestrial event. This world's messed up enough to say this is native to this planet." Rose commented.
"Hold up," Atsuto added, and slowly raised his voice for the crowd to hear him. "Get out of here! Investigation in progress! Anyone who does not follow my command will regret it." Mora supported his statement by motioning them away from the area. The people reluctantly backed off and returned to normal activities.
"Now," Asaka sang, "it's time to party!"
