2005

The music from Eun Ji's Walkman flowed to her ears from her earphones as she waited for the bus to come. Her eyes, apart from waiting the big blue bus to stop at the deserted yet peaceful bus stop, were also looking at her favorite teddy-bear-watch on her left wrist, wondered why the minute hand took a long time to move from one minute to another.

Waiting was the cages of boredom. She was never wrong about that sentence. Not even once.

Again she lifted her head and looked to her front, then to her left-and-right. It had been her routines on waiting―to observe her surroundings to waste time, if she was lucky enough, she would have seen something that would take her breath away such as something that she would prefer call the world's beauty objects. If there were things that captivated her eyes, she would prefer calling them as the world's beauty objects.

Eun Ji's forehead wrinkled in vague.

Her eyes caught a glimpse of a beauty. Close to something she'd preferably call 'muse'.

She turned her head, slightly, briefly looking at the beauty who standing not far from where she was. He was wearing the exact same school-uniform as hers, cream-manila jacket with the familiar school logo neatly sewed on the left-side. Fascinated by her own curiosity, she wondered whether they went to the same school.

The sunlight reflected those golden-chestnut irises of his, despite of his gaze to his book. It was a warm yet tender look to a peaceful moment to treasure. Her hands intuitively shaped a rectangle as she focused on his image as if she was using a camera. As his slender fingers turned to next page, those eyes shifted to her direction, meanwhile she was still on that pose.

It took a few seconds for her to realize, then she swiftly turned. Gosh, he was looking at her! She must have looked like a perverted-maniac. She gulped in misery. Was she even blushing? If she was, then she had worsened the whole situation.

While she was having arguments with herself whether she appeared like a weirdo, the man approached her. By only standing next to her, had made her having goose bumps. Not because of eerie or even fear-provoking, but to her own shameful act. Merely replaying the action in her mind as if she was him, she would thought, what on earth was she doing?

Eun Ji didn't dare to look him in the eye. No one would dare to do so, even if she was faced to death itself. She would die in shame.

But then, she was flabbergasted by a book entitled "My Life among the Serial Killers" written in red-font to resemble blood in her presumption. It should be the book he was reading with full of solemnity back then.

Her head lifted up before she could notice it. His radiant smile floated on his face, to its contrary, his eyes curved into dazzling reversed crescent moon, creating a balanced angelic face. Then his lips moving, but she couldn't hear a thing due to her earphones. She guessed that he probably handing over the book to her, saying something about 'new arrival'.

Indeed, she knew that the book was a new arrival, judging from how spick-and-span the book was. There may be a proverb saying don't judge a book from its cover, but to this kind of situation, she couldn't help to do so―despite the meaning was different. Even so, how could he possibly hand over that kind of book to her? To her own bewilderment, how could the book was already in her hands before she even remember receiving it?

Her eyes didn't release their gaze from his shadow that moved away to the big blue bus, slowly as if in slow-motion, she watched him took his steps...

She felt something was odd. Blue bus? Okay, blue bus... BIG BLUE BUS! It was the blue bus she was waiting for ages. Too much concerning about the man she just met, she almost forgot her duty as a student―to go to school. Imagining her mother using her extraordinary high voice and using her handbag special move while exhorting her, encouraged her to chase after the bus.

"Ah, I missed the bus again."

She took off the earphones that stuffed her ears before, her hands naturally put the book into her school bag, and then she tied her shoelaces. She took a deep breath. It was now or never.

"Ahjusshi! Ahjusshi! Stop the bus!" Like mother like daughter, she indeed inherited her mother's enticing vocal cords. Her voice had reached the bus driver but he neglected as if he had heard nothing.

Playing dumb, huh? Eun Ji tomboyish version was leaked out-she roughly blew her fringe while her hands on her hips, showing that she wasn't going to let this driver went off easily. Her legs moved before her head told them to, it was a bit sloppy at first but she handled it very well as an expert in the 'chasing' field. She should have considered being a runner instead if she was treated like that for her whole senior year.

And again, Eun Ji started her day with chasing the bus.
