A/N: Hello! So... this chapter is kind of short, sorry, I didn't know quite how to get it started! Thank you for reading!

Disclaimer: I don't own Batman/Robin/Any part of the BatFam(those all belong to DC Comics) and the song 10,000 Miles(which is by Mary Chapin Carpenter) that is featured in this story. I also don't own the photo acting as a cover on this story or the one for this chapter. Thank you.

The night was dark. We were patrolling as usual, slinking in the shadows to get where we needed to. Of course a time like that drew the villains out of their holes, so it didn't surprise my father when the Joker appeared a few blocks away from us. We would fight him and move on to the next disturbance in our place.

That night was different, though, and he had something new he used on my father as soon as we approached. Some toxin, poison, or hazardous material that the Joker thought of as a tool to use in a fight. I was stronger when I threw my first punches than my father was when he threw his. That scared me, but I never let fear get in my way. I never have.

It was over too quick. Because he had been weakened, the Batman fell like a bird with a broken wing. I knew I should fall back, that was our emergency plan. Perhaps he was playing along to jump up later, when he was in a better position, and then he would fight like the warrior I knew as my sire. I disappeared into the shadows as fast as I could. Then, I clicked the button on my radio, calling in for backup.

"Oracle, this is Robin," I muttered, watching the fight slow down. The few henchmen the clown had brought with him were closing in on the Bat and I knew it wouldn't take long, with how bent over he was, for them to do something terrible to him. When, at last, the girl replied, she said, "Oracle to Robin. What's wrong?"

"Joker has the Batman in a comatose state, I believe, and his henchmen are moving in for what appears to be a kidnapping. I require backup."

"Wing and Red Robin are close to your location. I will send them," she informed me. I stayed down until I heard a small rustle, and the two men in costumes fell down beside me. "Looks worse than I thought! Come on," Nightwing instructed, motioning for the red clad young man to move in on the left. "Robin, stay close to me. I don't know what they've got in the air."

I trailed after him obediently. We slunk across the street and I saw they were tying my father down. He was completely collapsed, probably unconscious, and I wondered what had caused him to go down like he had. Nightwing wondered too, though he did so out loud. "What put him out like that? If it was some kind of gas, you would've gone down too. Maybe-look. His shoulder."

A dart pointed into the small gap between his cowl, cape, and armor. The capsule area was devoid of liquid, which had probably already dispersed into his system. Briefly, I wondered what the drug was, until I heard a yelp. Across the street, Red Robin was lying in the dirt. He too had been shot.

Nightwing burst out in shock, attempting to knock the henchmen out of his way and get to the young man. His efforts were in vain, however, because he collapsed in the gutters as soon as they saw him. I gasped in shock but stayed still. It would do no good for me to be taken out like they were. Then, I heard my radio.

"Robin?" Oracle's voice cut through to me. I gripped the device and replied, "I am present."

"What just happened? I don't have links on Batman, Nightwing, or Red Robin!" I shivered. If their radio links were down, they truly weren't able to fight. I was on my own, huddled in the shadows like a scared cat. "They have all been taken out. I have fallen back, and I do not think they have noticed me."

"Good. Get back in the Batmobile and to the cave." Her brisk tone shocked me. She only acted like that if something was truly wrong. I asked her what it was, and she simply told me, "You're alone. Get to safety as fast as possible."

I obeyed, a small shiver of fear touching my back like a long, thin finger of cold. The car was two blocks away, and I ran the distance using alleyways as a cover. Once inside, I used the voice recognition to direct the car home, turning on the radio system. I would check the others' statuses to maintain calm.

"Oracle, this is Black Bat," I heard upon hitting the power button. "We are trapped. I'm cutting off radio signal."

"Good luck," the girl told her. "Stay safe."

The static quieted and for a moment, all I heard was the whistle of wind outside of the car, speeding at about ninety miles an hour. I thought for a moment. Black Bat was on patrol with Batwing and Batgirl, and the three of them had cut off radio ties. One patrol remained, and I heard the radio click on as they came in with, of course, bad news. "Oracle, this is Batwoman. Catwoman, Bluebird, Red Hood and I are down too. Get yourself out of the city, alright? They're tracing-"

The signal gave out. Oracle called in, one last time, saying, "If anyone else is out there and can hear, I'm shutting the radio systems down. I can't risk them pulling us all out if even one of us survives. Good luck."

Silence filled the car and suddenly, I realized we were facing a doomsday. The Pennyworths would be in the cave, I hoped, and I would have to warn them. Other than that, I was alone.

The car arrived to find the cave empty. I raced to find the duo watching the monitors where footage of the doomsday was unfolding. Gotham's heroes were disappearing like rabbits in a magic show. I called out, "Alfred! Julia!"

"Master Damian! Thank heavens." Alfred motioned me beside him, and I stood between them. Two-Face had taken Cass's patrol and the Penguin and RIddler had worked together to eliminate the larger patrol. Julia looked at the screen and saw only destruction, a thought that she voiced. "This is Armageddon. A cataclysm. I can only wonder what they plan on doing next. . .."

. . . . . . . .

The house was quiet that night. I stayed in Alfred's room, as did Julia, and tried to sleep. I may have gotten an hour of sleep before dawn woke me. I found the old man and his daughter in the cave, watching a Justice League transmission. I paid extreme attention to it.

It was prerecorded. All of the Justice League members were sitting calmly in a large room, probably in the Watchtower. As my father was the head of the organization before that fateful night, it was expected that he spoke.

"If you are seeing this now, please note that several members of this organization have fallen. They are either in a severe and temporary crisis or a somewhat terrible situation with a permanent end. Please follow these instructions."

He paused, and then continued, "First, attempt to contact all members of the Justice League. If there are members, form a plan and carry it out accordingly. If not, please lay low and hope for the best. Certain circumstances have plans already outlined. . .."

Julia shut the monitor off. "They didn't plan for the villains all of a sudden winning. And taking everyone with them."

"We still have a few actions we can perform," Alfred reminded her. "For one, Dick's young daughter was blessed with superpowers like her mother's. We must get her to safety, as they have not captured her yet. Then we will see if anyone else remains. If not, we must leave this place. They will trace its location eventually."

I slipped off. They didn't notice me.

I ended up in my father's large closet, shivering. I am the last one, I told myself. I must go find this daughter of Princess Koriand'r and Dick Grayson. She and I are Earth's last hope.

In the darkness, I began to sing to myself softly. It was a song Mother used to sing to me before she would leave me for a few days. I always wondered if she would come back, and she almost always did, until the end. I wonder now if my newfound family will come back to me, or will I be left to a world of chaos all alone. I'm going away...But I'll be back...The rocks may melt...And the seas may burn...If I should not return....
