When I was young
I never learned to hold my tongue,
I was full of foolishness and belief,
One to stand up and grind my teeth,
I quickly learned,
The world was not as I had imagined,
Some places serene and others savage,
The older I grew,
The more I understood and knew,
I walked down the road of hardship and maturity,
Often getting lost and losing my purity,
I grew lost and alone,
The years went by lonely and cold,
Like a ray of sunshine,
To be looked on in delight,
I soon found my love,
The one who held me up,
I held my children with steadfast arms,
To be there when they were harmed,
Right before my eyes,

Once a strong pillar,
Now shaking like a feather,
I look and regret their tears,
So beautiful the ones I hold dear
So I tell them to never fear,
As my time come near,
I tell them to be strong and courageous,
To make me proud in the heavens,
I close my tired eyes,
As death swiftly comes to my side,
As gentle as my lover's touch,
She reminds me of the one I love so much,
To take like a babe in her welcoming arms,
I smile one last time as I leave my old body and never return,
I am relieved of my burdens and regrets,
Ready to enter another life of happiness and joy,
One where street are gold and the sun everlasting
My life thread that binds me to this world,
Cut at last as I am filled with peace,
I now soar on snow white wings,
Above the heavens where I will win,
Something to believe in,
And listen to the angels sing...
