Winter

I saw snow for the first time and it felt like home
I had no idea why until I realized - the snow reminds me of you
The way the coldness made my skin burn
The way I'd inhale and it felt like knifes in my throat stopping me from speaking another word or taking another breath
But the sight of the snow was too wonderful to let go
I stayed in the snow
I stayed in the snow that winter night
I stayed in the snow hoping you'd find my footsteps carved into your core
I stayed even though I knew your coldness was only the beginning
I knew you'd bring a storm
I knew you'd find a new home
I knew you'd fade away and all I'd be left with was a vibrate sun
But I stayed until the very end
Until I felt my lungs collapse and my fingertips go numb
Until time froze for me
Until you and I finally worked together in something
That something wasn't the love we shared
Or the plans we made
It was the day I died with you
And the last day I knew I'd do it all again
Just to spend some time with you
